Clarissa had gone to Eden Investment Corporation for a few meetings, but Damien hadn’t been present. Only Alex and Ray were in attendance.
Every time Ray saw her, he looked like he had a lot of things to say, but he never mentioned anything to her.
One day, Clarissa received news about Genovia’s International Financial Summit. It was going to be held at a five-star hotel in Genovia at the end of the month.
Genovia again…
She decided to bring two of her students along to widen their horizons. It would help them with their dissertation as well.
Lisa and Rem were ecstatic to hear this.
“Miss Johnson, Genovia’s a big city. I haven’t even been there before. They’re even providing us with accommodation!” Lisa was excited.
Rem was the same.
As long as they could go somewhere to experience new things, they would be pretty happy.
Clarissa, on the other hand, wasn’t as lighthearted as they were.
It was the middle of November when she saw Damien again, at one of the university’s ceremonies.
He had suddenly become one of the University of Florin’s honorary professors, and even made a speech.
It was probably due to the Ashland project.
The project had officially been set up. From this day on, Ashland would be printed on all the project’s advertisements and notice boards. This made Clarissa’s mind wander.
Their daughter hadn’t come to this world for nothing.
Damien had been conferred an honorary doctorate due to his “contributions to Florin’s economy”. Moreover, his grandfather was a celebrated lecturer.
His position was already higher than Clarissa’s. Wasn’t it wonderful?
He seemed to have turned into a complete stranger. The manner in which he was dressed and spoke made him seem like a highly educated scholar. It was different from how he had acted as a trainer at New East Corporation.
It seemed he had different speeches for different situations.
The girls in the audience were whispering among themselves. “Mr. Lawrence is so handsome!”
“Forget about it. He already has a son.”
……
It looked like he was doing fine. In fact, he seemed to be doing better than ever. He had even come to the University of Florin to bewitch the young ladies here.
“Oh, right.” Clarissa then grabbed hold of his lapel.
“What?” Damien didn’t try to break free.
“Unblock me on WhatsApp,” she blurted out.
If she could communicate with Damien through WhatsApp, she could let him know in time if Iris was up to no good. He had a good head on his shoulders, and he would definitely be able to come up with a solution.
She didn’t want Iris to notice her, but she couldn’t resist the desire to see Neil.
“You’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time, huh?” Damien looked into her eyes. He seemed to know everything that she was thinking.
“No, it’s just for convenience’s sake.”
“I’ll drop Neil off this afternoon. Send me your number, and I’ll add you on WhatsApp.” Damien left.
She did as he said, and he added her quickly.
She saved his contact as “Damien”.
Iris was watching her every move, anyway. There was no point in being so cautious.
