As Damien left, he noticed the recommendation form on Chanel’s desk. The one on top was for Clarissa.
Her photograph was breathtaking. Her hair was silky smooth, and her large eyes were shining beautifully. She was lovely and warm, and was indeed so much more different from her past self.
Damien noticed that Chanel had graded Clarissa with an A+.
What a high grade!
Damien grinned proudly, as if he was seeing his own daughter acing a test with full marks.
“I’m leaving,” Damien told Chanel.
“Alright. It’s really late, you should get back and rest. Right, where are you staying tonight?”
Damien’s thoughts halted. Nevertheless, he said, “I’m going to my grandpa’s.”
Chanel didn’t say much. However, she noticed how Damien had paused next to her desk.
It seemed Damien concerned himself with any and every aspect of Clarissa, no matter what it was.
Damien didn’t go straight to his grandfather’s, but instead went to Clarissa’s first.
He knocked on the door for a long time, but there was no response.
“Clarissa!” he shouted loudly from outside. Yet, Clarissa still didn’t respond.
Just as he took his phone out to call her, Clarissa’s neighbor in the opposite unit came out.
“Oh, Mr. Lawrence! Are you looking for Miss Johnson?” The neighbor looked at Damien with bleary eyes. It seemed that the neighbor had been sleeping.
“That’s right.”
“She hasn’t come back after going out in the afternoon.”
“She’s not back yet?” Damien’s eyebrows scrunched together.
Connie wasn’t leaving, for she had taken a shine to Caleb.
Wouldn’t it be great if she could film in Florin and land a cute guy when she was done?
That day, Caleb was on his way to conduct a lesson with books in his embrace. He ran into Connie on campus.
“Connie?” Caleb didn’t know a thing about Connie and Clarissa’s conflict, so he was very friendly with her.
“Caleb?” Connie was overjoyed to be able to fake a coincidental meeting with Caleb.
“What are you doing here?”
“Are you going to class? Can I follow along? I’m done with filming, and I don’t have much to do. I’m bored,” she said.
Caleb checked the time on his phone. It was another half an hour to his next class. “It’s alright, it’s still early. It’s fine if you want to follow me to class. The next class is on Marx and Lenin, and it’ll be full of students. No one will be able to tell that you’re there. Let me buy you a smoothie.”
Coincidentally, they were walking by the smoothie bar. Without saying another word, Caleb went to buy Connie a drink.
