Seth planned to send Clarissa back to the university after dinner. However, Clarissa said that Florin was her home turf and insisted on sending Seth back to the hotel. She said she had had a lot to eat, and wanted to take a walk to help her digestion.
The two strolled slowly on the way back to the hotel.
For some reason, Clarissa felt very close to Seth.
Seth said to Clarissa, “Clarissa, don’t let Iris’s words get to you. In life, each day lived is a day earned. You must live it for yourself. If you keep letting Iris mess with you, what meaning is there to life? I think you might have been too disappointed by Damien, and Iris was just an excuse for your departure. She was the final straw that broke the camel’s back. Don’t feel too upset about your mother.”
Clarissa nodded. “It’s true. I can’t hide any of my problems from you.”
“Am I that amazing?” Seth patted Clarissa’s shoulder.
“You are indeed,” Clarissa said with confidence as she looked at him.
Seth pulled Clarissa into his embrace. “I’m leaving. Take care of yourself.”
Clarissa said she would. She never felt rushed whenever she had any close contact with Seth.
“Call a car. I want to see you leave,” Seth said to Clarissa.
Back in the hotel lobby, the receptionist told Seth that someone was waiting for him.
He turned his head, and saw that there was a tall person in a dark woolen overcoat in the hotel’s waiting lounge. The man’s aura stood out, and he was obviously an exceptional person.
Seth walked over.
Just now at the door, Seth and Clarissa had talked easily and hugged before parting. Damien had seen all of this. He had been smoking all the while, his eyes narrowed.
Last night when Clarissa had been texting on her phone, he had already guessed that she would be meeting up with Seth.
Damien smiled. Damian.
It seemed Clarissa had not called out for him in her sleep, but for this man before him.
Everything had been his own wishful thinking.
“You’re indeed well-informed, Mr. Lawrence. It’s true, Clarissa stayed in the room opposite mine that night. I asked her to come because I wanted to tell her about her background.” After saying that, Seth turned on the video to play the photos of Iris’s family.
“Why are you showing me these?”
“Don’t you know that Clarissa was terrified to interact with you because of Iris’s blackmail? Iris is very influential, and Clarissa was afraid of falling into a trap,” Seth said as he played the video. “I’ve also been looking up Clarissa’s background for her these past few years. However, I always hit a dead end whenever I reached Iris. It’s as if I was bound by a huge net. I could do nothing.”
Damien’s eyes narrowed as he glared at Seth. “You’re looking it up for her? Why?”
