Love in Twilight novel (Clarissa and Damien) novel Chapter 503

“I like Clarissa. Will that do?” Seth glared back at Damien. “She’s already divorced. Even if she was married, that’s in the past. Besides, she hasn’t been in contact with her ex-husband in three years. That means that there’s no more chance there. Isn’t that right, Mr. Lawrence? Am I wrong in my logic?”

Damien smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “No, there’s nothing wrong.”

“In these three years, we have been friends, but we’re also like lovers. We help and support each other. I think we can take things a step further and get married soon. There’s no problem there either,” Seth continued.

“If you’re going to get married, why did you sleep in separate rooms?”

“I respect Clarissa. I don’t like making people do things they don’t want to do. Her ex-husband was like that, and she didn’t like it. I was afraid I’d make her uncomfortable. As such, we have never slept together. She wanted to sleep with me before, but I turned her down. I know she’s only just returned, and that she’s been through a lot of turmoil. I won’t take advantage of her. Isn’t that right, Mr. Lawrence?”

Seth kept hinting at Damien, so of course Damien noticed it.

Moreover, he even told Damien about Clarissa’s behavior when it came to her sleeping habits. That meant that they were very close.

“It seems you’re a true gentleman, Dr. Highmore,” Damien said mockingly.

“I’m not sure about being a gentleman. However, I’m not a despicable man. Did you know that Clarissa is afraid of you? She gets so scared sometimes, she can’t even breathe,” Seth said.

“And how do you know this?” Damien asked blandly.

“She tells me everything.”

“Of course, you’re a psychiatrist,” Damien pointed out, taking the opening.

“One should indeed be afraid of someone who’s taken three lives in succession without being affected by it. Isn’t that right, Mr. Lawrence? It’s just like sleeping beside someone who has a knife in their hands. How would you dare to sleep with them? One should feel terrified. In any case, you don’t have too deep of a relationship with Clarissa. You only ended up marrying her because of a twist of fate. It doesn’t count as love, only cohabitation,” Seth said. “Enough, Mr. Lawrence. I’m tired and I have to return to Lotharia tomorrow. Please excuse me, Mr. Lawrence.”

Seth had said all that he had wanted to.

After leaving La Monde Hotel, Damien lit up a cigarette. Indeed, he had a formidable enemy on his hands.

Besides, what kind of a relationship did Clarissa have with Iris? Why was it that Seth had found nothing even after three years of investigations?

While he was deep in thought, his phone rang. Chanel was calling him.

“Hello,” Damien answered.

“Daddy,” came through the line.
