Irvin’s gaze met mine. He looked as though he was in emotional turmoil. It was possible that even he didn’t know how to describe what he was feeling at that moment.
After all, he had always resolutely believed I had harmed Julianne out of sheer maliciousness. And now, he was experiencing a rude awakening.,
He also looked like he hadn’t rested much these past few days. His eyes were dull and bloodshot. He also didn’t look as dashing or energetic as he usually was.
The old me would probably be heartbroken at this sight. Unfortunately, I was no longer that person. I didn’t feel anything for him. In fact, I thought Irvin owed me an apology.
He had marched up to me as this thought came to mind.
Gripping my arm, he asked, “There has to be some sort of misunderstanding. Right, Emi?”
I couldn’t help laughing when I heard his question. I pitied my former self.
When Julianne accused me of drugging her, he immediately believed her. When she said I was the reason Phillip had assaulted her, Irvin reacted the same way too. He didn’t even bother to ask for my side of the story.
Now, there was clear evidence. The police had even arrested the people involved. Yet, he still asked if there was a misunderstanding.
And still, he insisted he didn’t love Julianne. I genuinely wondered if he understood what love meant.
I coolly pulled my arm away from his grip. “You should be asking the police that,” I replied.
Julianne seemed to return to her senses at this moment. “Help me, Irvin. Please save me,” she cried as she rushed toward him.
Irvin immediately ignored me when he heard her desperate cries. He walked briskly toward her and consoled her.” Don’t cry, Lianne. I’m here.”
The gentleness he was displaying was vastly different than when I had been arrested.
With me, he was harsh. He had been adamant that I take the blame for something I didn’t do, while I had stubbornly insisted I was innocent. Because of this, he allowed me to go to prison just so I would be taught a. lesson.
But with Julianne, he was reassuring. He would be there for her even if the sky were falling.
It was ridiculous that they weren’t together. What nonsense
Julianne had been arrested because Mark had filed a lawsuit against her. The lawsuit was for falsely accusing and framing me.
She, along with Dad, had drugged me. While I had no control over my actions, they tried to frame me drugging her. Not only that, they edited the video to only show me spiking the drink and then posted it online.
For that reason, I had been subjected to online harassment. My reputation had also been severely affected.
Their actions were considered serious offenses. If convicted, their sentence would be the same as what I would have faced–three to ten years in prison.

The only difference between my situation and theirs was Irvin’s reaction.
“There must be some sort of misunderstanding, Emi.” He tried to appeal to me again. “There’s no reason Lianne would do this to you. Why would she sacrifice her dignity just to frame you!”
It wasn’t that he suspected me of foul play. He just genuinely believed Julianne had no motive to have done this. He especially couldn’t believe that she would sacrifice her dignity and life just to harm me.
After all, what woman on this earth would resort to such means?
