Love You Like I Used To Forget It (Millie Bridge) novel Chapter 116

Chapter 116

Dad was also adamant that he knew nothing about the drugging incident.

He admitted he had brought me to the lounge. He also admitted to drugging me with Abyde. He said he had given me an improved version. Hence, he wanted to see if I could make it home while under its effects.

He denied having any knowledge of why I ran into Julianne there, let alone her whole scheme to frame me. He declared that he didn’t know anything about what had transpired that day.

He also said that Julianne had only shown him the video when she returned two years ago. By then, five years had passed since the incident occurred. That was the reason he hadn’t connected the two together.

Besides, I had never gotten along with Julianne and couldn’t stand to see her doing well. Thus, he professed this was why he had immediately believed I had drugged her. He also claimed he didn’t remember that was the day he had fed me with Abyde.

To put it simply, Dad was saying he was only guilty of drugging me with Abyde as part of his experiment to test the drug. He wasn’t aware of anything else other than this.

Likewise, Julianne also refused to admit she had orchestrated the whole incident and framed me for it. She claimed to have happened to run into me that day and we had exchanged words. She even insisted she hadn’t known I was the one who had drugged her back then.

It was only laterwhen someone sent the video to herthat she thought I had wanted to harm her.

That being said, she never intended to use the video to frame me. If she did, she would’ve done it much sooner. She wouldn’t have waited until now.

Julianne also claimed she wasn’t the one who had released the video. She claimed Mom and Dad were the ones who had done so. She also said they were the ones who wanted me to go to prison.

Not only that, she insisted that she had never once pursued this matter. She was also adamant that she had never falsely accused me or framed me. Therefore, she wasn’t guilty of the crimes she was being charged with.

Mom and Dad immediately nodded in agreement with her statements. Irvin also confirmed that she never intended for me to go to prison.

However, it didn’t matter how much Dad and Julianne denied everything. It also didn’t matter how many times they claimed ignorance. They were still detained in the end.

They had to prove their claims after all.

In the eyes of the law, it wasn’t sufficient to claim ignorance or innocence.

It was just like my previous circumstance. I had claimed I wasn’t guilty. Yet, I had been detained because of the video. It was only after I had evidence to prove my innocence that I was able to claim.my freedom.

It was the same principle for Dad’s and Julianne’s case. They had been detained because of the video. So now, they had to prove their innocence if they wanted to be let go.

The weather today was exceptionally nice. It was rare to have such weather in winter.

I walked out of the police station. The warm, bright sunlight was a little blinding to my eyes. After spending several days in the detention center without any exposure to sunlight, I found myself a bit unaccustomed to it. Reflexively, I raised my hand to shield my eyes. But I then lowered it to look up at the clear blue sky. Closing my

eyes, 1 inhaled deeply. The sky hadn’t changed. Yet, the air cutside the police station felt so much sweeter.

Free at last.

One truly never understood how precious freedom was until one had lost it.

Mr. Holland was a man of science. That being said, he was also from the South. Hence, he also still believed in some voodoo practices.
