Chapter 187
Lan immediately remembered Irvin had thrown me aside without a second thought to save Julianne, and he
abruptly went quiet.
But right then, Quinton stormed in from outside. He barked “Lianne was kidnapped and in serious danger. What’s wrong with asking you to help save her? Isn’t that the least you could’ve done?
“Emilia, stop playing the victim here. If you’d treated Llane right from the start, we never would’ve misunderstood you. You brought this on yourself!”
Quinton glared at Landon like he was pissed Landon had let a cruel woman like me shut him up so easily.
They both grew up with Irvin, meaning they’d also known Julianne their whole lives. Irvin treated Julianne like a princess, so naturally, they did too.
And since Julianne often fed them stories about how badly had treated her, they’d always hated my guts, even before I officially met Irvin.
When I first got together with Irvin, Quinton and Landon had initially been respectful, addressing me properly and acting politely. But as soon as they found out I was the same adoptive sister Julianne always painted as vicious, their attitude changed completely.
To them, someone as vicious as me was nowhere near good enough for Irvin.
Back when Irvin still had my back, they’d kept their hostility hidden, limiting it to quiet insults behind my back. But after Irvin saw that fake video of me supposedly drugging Julianne, they came at me openly–mocking, insulting, humiliating me whenever they had the chance.
As far as they were concerned, anything bad that happened to me was deserved. I was nothing but trash.
Honestly, I had no clue how I’d put up with their terrible treatment for so long. But right now? I wasn’t putting up with anything.
I scoffed and said, “Let’s get one thing straight. Even if I had treated Julianne badly–which I didn’t–the ones who should feel guilty are you two, not me.
“You both claim to be so protective of Julianne, always whining about how badly she was treated. But if that were true, why did you sit back and watch while she supposedly suffered? Each of your families is way wealthier and more powerful than mine.
“If you really wanted justice, you could’ve crushed my family in a heartbeat. But you didn’t. You’re both filthy rich, so if you truly cared about Julianne, you could’ve easily taken her in yourselves. Instead, you left her with us, knowing she was supposedly miserable.
“You didn’t want the responsibility but had no problem fording it onto someone else, demanding they play the saint so you wouldn’t have to get your hands dirty. That’s disgusting!
“And you’ve got the nerve to say I deserve punishment? If karma’s real, you’d be the first ones to go down.”
“Why you-
Quinton and Landon stared at me, completely stunned. They never imagined I’d face them head–on like this. Back then, I’d been so desperate for Irvin’s affection that I’d bent over backward, trying to please his friends, especially these two. I hadn’t just tolerated their insults. I’d even go so far as to swallow them whole.
