ry opened his mouth to respond but was interrupted by lianne suddenly rushing over to us.
“How could you be so heartless, Emilia!” she shrieked. “Irvin got injured from trying to save you, yet you didn’t even visit him once while he was in the hospital. And now you’re treating him like this?”
Then, she hugged Irvin and said to him, “Don’t beg her, Irvin! If she wants to get a divorce, then let her! And if she’s heartless enough to go through with it, it just means she doesn’t actually love you!”
There she went again, poisoning his mind.
Seeing as she grew up with him, she surely understood him well. She knew just what to say to make him doubt me regardless of which version of Irvin it was.
And true enough, Irvin did. He couldn’t help wondering if what Julianne said was true. Was I treating him this way because I didn’t actually love him? After all, how could I bear to treat him this way if I did?
His gaze even involuntarily changed to one that asked, “Is it true that you didn’t actually love me?”
I couldn’t help chuckling sardonically.
Let’s say he wasn’t psychologically scarred. But truthfully speaking, Phillip’s actions were quite traumatizing And given how prideful Irvin was, he wouldn’t be bearing his soul in front of me if he wasn’t psychologically affected by Phillip’s actions.
That being said, the opposite wasn’t true either. If Irvin didn’t trust anyone because Phillip had psychologically traumatized him, then what about Julianne?
He had never once doubted anything she told him. And if that wasn’t enough proof that he loved her romantically, then what was?
I couldn’t be bothered to continue talking to them, so I turned to shut the door.
However, Julianne suddenly grabbed my arm. “Millie-”
I didn’t want to stick around to hear whatever she had to say. So, I impatiently pushed her away. After being injured, I absolutely hated it when people grabbed me without reason.
I only intended to shake her off, so I didn’t use much strength. Yet, Julianne abruptly stumbled and smashed her head against the wall. The impact created an audible thump, and a large red bump instantly appeared on her forehead.
Shocked by this, Irvin hurried over and helped her up. He had been in agony just moments before, but he seemed to have forgotten about it in an instant.
Naturally, he then looked at me and scolded, “How could you push Lianne so hard, Emi? Don’t you know that she
She…”
When Irvin looked into what had happened between us over the past few years, he came across how he had forced me into trading my life for Julianne’s. Naturally, he also learned about what Julianne had gone through while she was held hostage.
He had been devastated by the information. How could he not be when he saw her as his little sister? And given how terribly Julianne had suffered, how could he not be angry when he saw me push her?
When I met his accusatory gaze, I couldn’t help but laugh. I seriously didn’t understand what sins I had

“O no, your poor, dear Lianne looks like she’s about to falt. You should hurry and take her to the hospital,” i *said mockingly.
Then, I slammed the door and went back to my room.
Irvin’s face was filled with disbelief at my icy demeanor.
