Like a wild animal, Irvin lunged at me and grabbed my wrist. “What do you think you’re doing, Emilia?”

Seeing him, the smile on my face vanished instantly. I frowned and said impatiently, “Why are you shouting? We’re in public. You’re acting like a lunatic!”

Irvin paused as if he couldn’t understand how I was still acting so bold and guiltless when I’d refused to see him when he was hospitalized for gastric bleeding, opting instead to enjoy myself at the strip club.

However, he soon realized that my words sounded eerily familiar. Then, it hit him—he had said the same thing to me after I had caught him shopping with Julianne and acting intimate

with her.

At the time, I had just recovered from taking a stabbing for him and was still suffering from physical and emotional torment from Julianne. I had lost my cool and yelled at them in public; in return, he had said those exact words to me coldly and callously.

Irvin blanched.

After a long silence, he finally said, “Emi, you can be angry with me all you want, but please don’t do anything you’ll regret.‘

I frowned at him. “What do you mean by that?”

He didn’t respond. Instead, he shot a cold glance at the row of strippers behind me.

I scoffed coldly, prying his fingers off my wrist, and said disdainfully, “I’m just doing my job. Don’t let your dirty mind turn everything you see filthy.”

His now–empty hand clenched into a fist.

“That’s right, don’t let your dirty mind turn everything filthy!” Cordelia, nestled in the embrace of a chiseled stripper, chimed in mockingly.

She raised a hand and brushed it flirtatiously along the man’s throat. “Tell me, handsome, there’s nothing intimate between us, is there?”

She looked exactly like how Irvin acted around Julianne, holding her with utmost tenderness while insisting over and over that their relationship was purely platonic.

Cordelia knew exactly how to deliver the most sarcastic blow.

Irvin’s expression darkened further. Even so, he was still more handsome than any of the male strippers. There was really no wonder that I had fallen so hard for him.

Even after everything, I was still attracted to him.

Just as I was about to turn away and leave with Cordelia, Irvin stopped me. “Emi, my stomach hurts.”

He seemed to finally realize that I was truly serious about divorcing him. He could see that I no longer looked at him with love in my eyes. Still, he thought that this was just my anger talking.

In the past, there were times when he had made me furious enough to want to leave him. However, his occasional displays of tenderness and vulnerability would reel me back in.

He thought I would fall for the same tricks again.

Unfortunately for him, I had forgotten how deeply in love I was with him. I didn’t want to love anyone like that again, and I would never pity any man from now on.
