Irvin still had more to say. But then he realized anything he said now would be pointless. Thus, in the end, he just gazed profoundly at me before silently leaving.

I went to the restroom after Irvin left. And when I exited a stall to wash my hands, I looked at myself in the mirror. Seeing the unmistakable disappointment in my reflection, I couldn’t help but laugh bitterly.

I truly was pathetic.

After splashing cold water on my face to wake myself up, I redid my simple makeup and headed back to the private dining room.

As I was leaving the restroom, Grace happened to walk in. When she saw me, she smiled. “Hello, Ms. Quill,”

Since we were alone, I didn’t feel like playing along. I kept walking ignoring her completely.

Seeing this, Grace stepped forward and blocked my path.

“I know my past behavior has hurt our relationship, Ms. Quill,” she said. “But rest assured, it won’t happen again,” she said.

Grace wouldn’t bother me again because, truthfully, I wasn’t even worth the trouble.

She had mulled over her actions these past few days. And the more she thought about it, the more she realized targeting me was

beneath her. It honestly wasn’t necessary for her to do so.

I glanced at her and didn’t say anything. Then, I simply walked around her and left.

Grace sneered as she watched my departing figure before entering the restroom.

When I returned to the private room, Emma immediately sensed the change in my mood. She walked over and whispered, “Did something happen, Emilia?”

I smiled at her. “It’s nothing.”

Seeing that I didn’t want to talk, Emma didn’t probe further.

After signing the deal with the AI expert, Irvin wanted to head to my hotel room to see me. Just then, he happened to see Julianne walking in with Mitchell.

Recalling what had happened earlier today, Irvin narrowed his eyes and approached them.

Julianne truly understood Irvin too well because when she spotted him walking toward her, she instantly knew what he wanted to do. Her first instinct was to lead Mitchell away, but Irvin stopped her.

Turning to Mitchell, he asked, “Mr. Slate, I need to have a word with Ms. Calder. May I borrow her for a moment?”

As the heir to the Hardwell family, Irvin’s status commanded respect. Mitchell immediately agreed, “Of course, Mr. dwell!”

Then, he gave Julianne a light pack on the back, signalling her to cooperate and follow Irvin.

Realizing she couldn’t escape, Julianne didn’t try to protest and merely followed Irvin to the hotel’s garden.

Still determined to maintain her current identity, she said, “Mr. Hardwell-”

But Irvin coldly cut her off, “Enough. Drop the act.”

Upon hearing this, Julianne knew there was no point in pretending

She was still of value to William, so Irvin might not even have intentions of hurting her. But even if he did, he would need to think twice about whether it was worth offending William.

Julianne quickly abandoned the pretense. Moving forward to grab his arm and cozy up to him, she whined, “Irvin…”
