Chapter 267
I felt like my whole body was on fire. It was as if I had a fever. I recalled scenes from the last time I teased him and remembered what Lisa had said as I looked at his restrained, almost ascetic face.
“Brandon, have you ever slept with another woman?” Even though he had said he never had a girlfriend, I decided to ask again just to be sure.
Brandon’s gaze deepened. “No.”
That word made my heart tremble. “Do you want to?”
His jaw tightened, and the next moment, my vision became dark as I felt the overwhelming sensation of his lips pressing against mine. By the time he was breathing heavily, I already had my answer.
But instead of continuing, he pressed his forehead against mine and said, “How long are you going to test me? Or do you just want to torture me?”
Seeing his suppressed desire and the way he clearly wanted me but was fighting to hold back, I cupped his face. “Do you really want this? Is this desire purely for me?”
As I asked these questions, I was once again reminded of how deeply Chris‘ casual words had hurt me when he said he wasn’t interested in me.
“Yes,” Brandon breathed heavily, “only for you.”
Upon hearing this, I closed my eyes and felt that something in my heart had let go.
“Made..” Brandon’s voice calling my name was cut off by my kiss. This time, I pulled him closer.
“Should we wait a little longer?” Brandon asked at the very last moment, restraining himself.
“Wait for what?” My voice was trembling.
“When we get married,” Brandon’s gaze was intense.
I looked at him and said, “Even if we get married, if you’re not sincere, you’ll still betray me.”
“I won’t,” he kissed the tip of my nose lightly. “I’ll never betray you, Mae.”
He made a promise, but I no longer believed in promises. Chris had made promises to me too, but in the end, he still got involved with someone else.
In reality, more people got divorced each day than married, so promises were the least reliable thing in the world.
There was a saying that the greatest pain came from expecting too much and receiving too little in return. So, if one didn’t expect anything, one wouldn’t feel pain or sadness.
