Chapter 277 

“No. Nothing in particular. I just wanted to have dinner with you,” Keith said directly. 

Lisa seemed taken aback and didn’t respond immediately. Just when I thought this silly woman would say something coy and reject him, she simply replied, “Sure.” 

Yes! My best friend was not as clueless as I thought. She didn’t push away the handsome man who came her way. 

I silently gave Lisa a thumbs up and even started to imagine what kind of wonderful night she might have with her longtime crush. But then, Emily suddenly chimed in. 

“It’s been a long time since the three of us got together after graduation. We should really catch up.” 

Huh? Now that was the most proactive light bulb I had ever seen. As someone who had been in a similar situation, I knew exactly what Emily was doing–she was trying to prevent Keith and Lisa from being alone together. 

Lisa, who rarely showed such courage, had finally stepped up, only for Emily to jump in. I wasn’t about to let this slide, but before I could say anything. Lisa spoke up. 

“Emily, I have some other things to discuss with Keith. 

1 was stunned. Lisa was really holding her ground, not letting anyone steal this opportunity away from her. 

However, Emily didn’t falter. Instead, she smiled faintly and said, “I know you need to discuss the surgery for your friend’s family. You might not be aware, but I’m also involved in this surgery and will be joining Keith in the operating room.” 

She wasn’t giving up, and she was even using her role in Ellie’s surgery to make it hard for Lisa to refuse. Lisa opened her mouth, but before she could respond, Keith said, “I have some personal matters to discuss with Lisa,” 

That statement made my eyes widen in surprise, and I thought to myself, “Emily’s KO–ed.” 

Nothing could have been a more perfect knockout than Keith’s words. 

Emily’s beautiful face froze, and her smile had become restrained. Then, she reluctantly shoved her hands into her coat’s pockets and said, “If it’s personal, then I won’t intrude.”
