Love's Redemption (Chris and Maddie) novel Chapter 392

I had no idea when the phone stopped ringing.

I just knew that when Brandon carried me from the bathroom to bed, all the bones in my body had turned to jelly.

I was so exhausted that I didn't even want to open my eyes. Nestled under the covers, I soon fell asleep.

"Take a nap. I'll make some potato soup for you," Brandon whispered in my ear.

I murmured a soft acknowledgment and drifted into slumber, but even in my half-asleep state, I kept hearing the phone ringing.

I didn't want to move, and I couldn't open my eyes. I groped around the bed, but the space beside me was empty.

"Brandon…" I called out for him.

Brandon hurried over and leaned down. "What's wrong?"

Without opening my eyes, I mumbled, "My phone is so noisy."

"What?" It seemed he didn't catch what I said.

"Phone. Noisy," I repeated.

Brandon didn't respond right away, but he spoke after a moment, "Mae, you're dreaming. Your phone isn't ringing. It's turned off."

Really? Then, what was that ringing I kept hearing?

I didn't say anything more and went back to sleep, only waking up much later.

When I opened my eyes, I saw Brandon sitting at the table opposite the bed deeply engrossed in sketching something. He was so focused that he didn't notice I was awake.

I sat up and realized he was drawing blueprints. So, it turned out that he had been working this whole time.

It was no wonder that Xander never scolded him for not showing up at the office. Brandon had quietly taken care of everything he needed to do.

I hesitated to disturb him seeing how focused he was, so I quietly got out of bed. But my movements still caught his attention.

He turned to see me up and immediately put down his pencil to come over. "Why didn't you call me?"

Hotels nowadays had stepped up their game. It was no longer just a room with a bed but was almost as well-equipped as a home.

After having the potato soup and salad, my throat felt much better.

Though fully awake and well-fed, I noticed Brandon seemed tired. I had seen him struggle to keep his eyes open several times.

"Brandon, why don't you get some sleep? I'll clean up," I said as I gently pushed him toward the bedroom.

"I need to take a shower first. I smell like cooking oil." Brandon implied that he had worked on his blueprints right after making the meal, so he hadn't had a chance to shower yet.

I turned him around and pushed him toward the bathroom. "Then go wash up."

I playfully tugged him down by the neck and stiffed his hair. "You smell nice, no oil at all. Skip washing your hair."

He frowned. "Is it okay to shower without washing your hair?"

"Of course." I chuckled. "Brandon, don't tell me you wash your hair every time you shower."
