Jewel’s petty tricks were ruthlessly exposed by me. Her face turned extremely ugly. But she still tried to maintain her superior demeanor. “Are you convinced that Chris and I have something going on?”

I remained silent and just watched her performance. 

Sure enough, she wiped away her tears and asked, “Madeline, are you really not going to cherish Chris anymore?” 

This woman was setting a trap for me. Did she think I was that naive? 

I sneered. “If I say I’m giving him up, will you say that you happen to want him?” 

Jewel’s expression stiffened slightly. Her lips pressed tightly together, perfectly portraying fragility and beauty. 

But I wasn’t a man. Otherwise, I might have found her delicate demeanor quite touching. 

“Chris deserves to be cherished.” Jewel finally revealed her true intentions. 

I lowered my gaze. I looked at her still flat belly and then at her flat shoes. “It seems you really want to cherish him. But do you think you deserve him?” 

Jewel’s face turned ugly, and her hands clenched the hem of her shirt tightly. 

*Jewel, let me remind you. Even if Chris and I don’t end up together, it’s not easy for you to enter the Gildon family. You should know why.” I wasn’t trying

Jewel’s plans fell apart with my words. Seeing her silence, I shouldered my bag and left. 

I didn’t go back to Gildon estate first but went to Lisa’s place. 

Since getting off the plane, I hadn’t even changed my clothes. I didn’t want to appear in a disheveled state and make Chris‘ parents think I had been living miserably. That would only make it harder for me to leave the Gildons.
