Chapter 91 

Judging from Chris‘ expression, he appeared jealous. 

What a scumbag. He wanted to have his cake and eat it too. How could he be romantically involved with a widow while still leading me on? 

I stayed in the restroom for a few minutes before I left, only to hear Jewel’s tearful voice. “Chris, you’re still in love with Madeline, aren’t you?” 

“She’s my fiancee.” Chris‘ answer confirmed my suspicions. He still had feelings for me. 

“But she broke up with you,” Jewel whimpered. 

I had to admit. Jewel knew how to act before a man. Her tone of voice was 

immaculate. 

“She broke up with me, but I haven’t agreed. Besides, she can’t live without me. She’s just angry for the time being. It’ll be fine once her anger subsides.” 

I didn’t expect that from Chris. It turned out he only took our breakup as me throwing a tantrum. He still believed that I would never leave him. 

But since he said that to Jewel, did that mean there was really nothing going on between them? 

“Men are all the same. You don’t cherish what you have and won’t let go when you lose them.” Jewel mocked Chris. 

When Chris remained silent, Jewel continued, “Since Madeline is the woman you truly care about, why are you making her misunderstand us by being so good to me?” 

My chest tightened. I was curious too. 

Before today’s encounter, I truly thought Chris was involved with Jewel. But if that had been true, Chris wouldn’t have openly admitted his feelings for me in front of her. 

Chris was still silent. Not knowing what was going on, I took a quiet step forward.

They were standing in the hallway, and across from them was a full–length mirror. I saw the two of them through the mirror. 

Chris had his head down and was staring at his feet. He looked very gloomy. 

“Chris, since Madeline is the woman you love, why did you approach me in the first place? Why did you kiss me?” 

I froze at Jewel’s words. They already kissed? I felt my heart squeeze, and then it was like a string snapped. 

“Say something, Chris!” Jewel was suddenly agitated and grabbed Chris‘ shirt. 

“Why did you kiss me? If you hadn’t kissed me, lan wouldn’t have seen it and-” Jewel suddenly fell silent. I watched as her body went limp and Chris caught 

her. 

“Jewel, Jewel!” Chris called out anxiously before picking her up and hurrying Outside.

I stood there, unmoving, watching through the mirror as Chris carried Jewel away in panic.

Jewel said Chris kissed her, and lan saw them. That meant Chris and Jewel’s relationship had been going on for some time now. It wasn’t something 

recent. 

It turned out, Chris had already cheated long ago.. 

“Are you Ms. Crown?” a waitress who came in asked. I snapped out of it and looked at her. She explained, “A Mr. Howell is waiting for you outside.” 

I pinched the palm of my hands hard, then composed myself and walked out of 

the restroom. 

Brandon was standing not far from the restroom. Against the backlight, his tall figure gave off a sense of stability.
