Chapter 64
I was a nervous wreck. Today was Sunday, which meant family dinner at Hayden’s house with his dad. A man who thinks I’m not worthy or up his son’s standard
in
I was already at the front door of their mansion, trying to calm my anxiety. It was the night with dinner with his mom all over again, but this time I knew what to expect because, from what Hayden had told me, his dad doesn’t like me that much.
I repeatedly took a deep breath to help prepare me mentally and physically for what was to come. I brought out my phone, turning on the camera: to see if anything was out of place.
Thankfully, everything was still in place. 1 looked just like I did when I left my house. I had on a simple, casual light blue dress and black sandals. My make–up was simple, and my hair was tied up into a messy bun with two strands on each side of my face.
I put my phone back into my black small mini back, taking in a deep breath one last time before ringing the bell. The door opened, with the head msid standing on the other side of the door. She bowed lightly, and I waved at her out of nerves, not trusting my voice right now. She gave way for me to walk, and I whispered a thank–you to her, stepping into the house.
I had not walked fully inside the house when I spotted Hayden walking towards me. He pulled me in for a hug, pecking the side of my head before breaking apart.
“For a second there, I thought you weren’t going to press the bell” A mischievous grin crossed his face.
“You were watching me.” I asked, bewildered.“How“:
“You do know there are cameras at the front door, right?” My eyes widen, starring at him. If he had seen me, that means anyone could have. Which meant his dad could have seen. My anxiety increased, and my palm tumed sweary.
Hayden burst out laughing, and I looked at him, wondering if he had hit his heart because this wasn’t a laughing matter. “I totally didn’t expect you to believe me that easily” He finally said this after getting a hold of himself. I was just kidding, babe”.

A sigh of relief flows right from my lips. I gave Hayden a light blow, glaring at him as a smile appeared on “You know I’m already edgy about this dish”

I gave a slight nod with a smile on my face. Hayden palled me out at the louner, taking me upstairs to his room. We both walked inside, and he closed the door, locking it.
