Chapter 65
In a month —a stressful month. My head has been stuck to my book these past two weeks due to exams, but thankfully it is over. I wrote my last paper yesterday, which was Friday.
One last thing to worry about.
Things with Hayden’s dad and I were a little bit better, though I don’t think he has fully accepted me because that would mean giving up on the hotel he plans on acquiring from Sophie’s dad. At least he doesn’t glare at me or make hateful comments towards me, which is kind of like a win.
Today was Saturday, which was also my birthday. I am officially eighteen, that makes me an adult, even though I had no clue how to be one. After a little celebration with my family in the morning. I had planned to spend the remaining day with my friends, but that seemed to have gone down
the drain
For some reason, no one called to wish me a happy birthday, not even Hayden. I tried calling them and inviting them over, but they all had a fucked–up reason. They kept saying they were too busy: Maddie even said she had to take her cat to the vet. But we both know that was a straight- up lie, because Maddie doesn’t have a cat.
Hayden.
Don’t even get me started with him; he is on a bonding mission with his bed. Can you believe that? He was actually ditching me for his bed. Like, who does that to their own girl friend on her birthday!
I was already plotting a lot of ways to get
to get back at them.
So, right now, I was on my bed with a big bowl of ice cream. 1 was drowning in my pitiful self as I watched a random movie on Netflix.
Then, all of a sudden, the light went off, I looked around my room, wondering what could have happened. I was the only one alone; my parents went out with Asher because today was an Asher Junior League football competition of sune soIL
(I groaned in annoyance, feeling 100 lazy to get up from the comfort of my bed. I reluctantly put down the bowl of ice cream, flinging my
off my lap. I go down from the bed, moving to the window to see if it was a blackout
blanket
I noticed that other houses had light, and it was just mine that had a blackout. I picked up my phone to call my parents when I heard noises coming from downstairs. I hurriedly picked up my reading lamp, slowly making my way out of my room and moving downstairs to where the noises were.
I tiptoed as best as I could when I got to the last stairs; it was quiet, making me wonder if I was just being paranoid. I was about to drop the lamp when seven familiar faces jumped out of the back of my couch, and I let out a loud scream, startled
“Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday, happy birth day! Happy birthday to you. They sang, gathering around me with Safe at the front, holding on to a chocolate cake with candlelight on it.
A stream of confetti came flying through my face along with some cheers, while I just stood there, my mouth almost hitting the ground.
“What the hell, guy?” I was surprised and touched..
“You don’t seriously think we forgot about your birthday, Bree” Maddie snots, looking at my shocked expression
I should have been able to put the two together when they all lied, making excuses when they couldn’t hang out with me today. I was so angry that I didn’t think about it and that made me a little embarrassed that I fell for their birthday tricks.
I looked at my friend as they had a smile on their faces, clearly amused by how shocked and starded I was. I turned to look at Hayden, my hands crossed together and my eyebrows raised.
1 thought you wanted to bond with your bed Lasked flatly
“It wasn’t my fault, babe. Maddie suggested we all pretend not to remember your birthday so we could surprise you later. Hayden explained quickly, not minding if he threw Maddie under the bus. “No one can replace you, babe, not even my bed” He finishes off cockily.
“I can’t believe you guys made me think you forgot about my birthday. How mean of you” I tried my best to glare at them but ended up smiling.
“We love you too, boo” Daniel responded in a sing–song manner.
1 let out a breath before squealing as loud as I could, hugging Maddie and the rest gathered in a group hug. We pulled apart with a smile on our
faces.
efore we start off with the celebration, why don’t you turn the lights back on, babe? Sofie says to Oliver:
Right, Oliver walked out of the house, and within a second, the light came back on. We waited in the living room for Oliver to come back in before making our way upstairs to my room.

Chapter 65
1 plopped myself on my bed, with Hayden beside me. The right crew gathered around me, and my eyes ht up when I saw them bring out a wrapped gift in their hands
Oh gifix“1squealed. “Gimme.” I stretch my palins out like a child, smiling from ear to car.
“Babe. I find it hard to believe you are eighteen and not right” Hayden snorted teasing me,
put on my stretched arms.
I stuck my tongue out to him, making everyone laugh. Maddie was the first to hand me her gift; she safely put on
“Open mine first, I’m sure you will be amazed. She said this, flipping her hair.
I looked at the gift, then back at her, filled with excitement. Quickly, I ripped away the wrapper, eager to see what was in it. Once it was removed, I paused. My mouth opened wide, but not a single sound came out as 1 dipped my hands up and down.
1 got out of bed, rushing towards Maddie. I wasted no time jumping on her; I was thankful that she was able to balance herself and me. When I got off her. I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face.
“You’re the best, Maddie.” I said, looking back at the Chanel bag she had gotten for me. I had planned to buy the bag when I had enough money since it was way too expensive. I rushed over and back to the bed, picking up the bag to put it somewhere safe.
1 told you my gift would be the best.” Maddie passed with a victorious smirk on her face.
“Don’t get too
get too cocky” Daniel says to her, handing me his gift.
I teared off the wrapper, not knowing what to expect. But this was Daniel we were talking about, I won’t be surprised if he got me a condom. because that was what he did during Maddie’s birthday.
He is just wired that way.
I removed the wrap, and a gasp filled the room. I guess I wasn’t the only one shocked. Daniel had a smirk on our faces, watching the look on our faces. I stared down at the beautiful diamond necklace.
“Who are you and what have you done to our friend?” Oliver exclaimed, looking at the gift on my lap
was going to
Daniel shrugged, giving everyone a smirk that says. Trying beating that. I guess there was a kind of competition going on over who w give me the best gift. I shook my head at their childish tactics while at the same time being happy.
“Open mine next” Sofie said as she stretched over, handing me her g
gif.
I ripped open the wrapping paper and bounced on the bed when I saw the silver bracelet. They really went out of their way to get me a good present; this was way beyond what I had expected 1 moved on to Oliver’s gift, he had gotten me two tickets to the Ariana Grande concert.
Thanks, OILA warm smile is on my face. “How did you know I wanted to go to an Ari concert?”
“Sobe told me I was struggling with the perfect gift to get for you, and Sofie helped me out
“I love it.” I said, holding it up to my chest.
I moved on to open Dylan’s gift and was welcomed with the sight of beautiful customized sneakers. I don’t know what to say, Dylan.” I was speechless. He laughed, knowing very well how much I loved it. “Thank you.” I whispered to him, and lie shrugged, whispering back, “You are welcome!
“Okay, girl, it’s my turn. Josephine said, nervously handing me her gift. She bit on her finger nails, watching as I ripped out the wraps. I smiled, trying to ease her up before removing the wraps completely.
“Sep, it’s beautiful” I said, holding on to the sliver wristwatch. “I really love it” She let out a breath, and a smile graced her face. “Thank you”
“You are welcome.” She smiles cheekily,
“I guess it’s my turn, babe.” He took out a small, wrapped box from his pocket, handing it over to me.
