Chapter 32
As they drove back to the island, Aurora couldn’t sit still, fidgeting but careful not to distract Maverick at the wheel. Once they arrived in their room, her guard went up even further. She wouldn’t let him touch her–not a hug, not even holding hands.
Frustrated, Maverick finally grabbed her wrists and tossed her onto the bed.
“What do you think you’re doing?“ „Aurora snapped.
He loosened his tie, tossing it aside with a flicker of defiance. I told you what I planned to do tonight.”
As he leaned in, she turned her face away. I don’t want you touching me–you reck of another woman”
Her words hit like a match to gasoline. Maverick’s grip tightened as he turned her face back toward him. “You’re my wife,” he said, before closing the distance between them, his kiss demanding and unrelenting
All of her objections vanished in the force of it, swallowed by his unyielding passion.
That night was anything but gentle, anger pulsed between them, each of them holding their ground in a battle of wills.
The next morning, Aurora woke feeling sore and spent. Her muscles ached, and every movement reminded her of the strain from the night before.
Sunlight filtered softly through the curtains, illuminating the room, but Maverick’s side of the bed was empty, cold to the touch.
Embarrassment mixed with anger as she threw a pillow to the floor.
Taking a deep breath, she got up, gingerly stretching her stiff limbs, and muttered a few choice words about Maverick under her breath
After cleaning up and dressing, Aurora headed out, stomach grumbling. She was taken aback when she opened the door to find a woman dressed in a sieck black suit standing outside.
Aurora arched a brow. “Who are you?”
The woman offered a polite nod. “Good morning, Miss Sage. Mr. Parker sent me. I’m your new personal bodyguardTM
Aurora eyed her skeptically. “A personal bodyguard, huh? And what should I call you!”
“Just Bernard is fine, Miss Sage, Bernard said, trying not to keep her gaze strictly on Aurora’s face, but even so, she couldn’t help but feel her allure radiating. “Are you ready for breakfast!
“Yeah, I could use some food” Aurora closed the door behind her. “By the way, do you know who Maverick’s attending physician is”
“I’m new to the island, but I can find out for you if you’d like,” Bernard replied.
“Okay.” Aurora said casually.
Since there wasn’t likely any real danger on the island. Bernard went off to investigate w
without hesitation.
Earlier, not knowing when Aurora would wake up, she hadn’t dared to stray far from her door.
With that, Bernard went off to make inquiries, leaving Aurora to descend to the dining room alone.
She spotted a sandwich and a glass of milk laid out neatly for her breakfast.
After finishing her meal, Bernard returned with news. “Miss Sage, Mr. Parker’s attending physician isn’t currently on the island. But see him, we can make the arrangements,” Bernard explained.
Aurora nodded, a hint of worry in her expression.
Maverick’s heart still harbored a bullet–a ticking time bomb she feared could go off at any moment.
Soon they were on their way to the clinic, Bernard navigating them smoothly through the quiet roads

Within thirty minutes, they pulled up outside a small but well–kept clinic, with a line of patients waiting outside.
“This is it, Miss Sage. Bernard announced, guiding her th

“Dr. Frid has been expecting you, the staff member said as they approached the door.

Aurora surveyed her surroundings, a sense of unease stirring within her.
“This doctor isn’t even based at the Parker family’s residence, she thought. ‘Doesn’t look like he’s from one of those upscale medical practices either.
Bernard must have noticed her uncertainty, and she leaned in to explain, Dr. Frid is actually Mr. Parker’s personal physician. He prefers to keep a low profile, running his own practice here. When he’s not needed by Mr. Parker, he tends to other patients.”
Impressed by the doctor’s commitment to helping those outside his wealthy clientele, Aurora felt her curiosity deepen. She wondered what kind of doctor takes on this dual role.
The clinic wasn’t large, but its inpatient department was surprisingly spacious, matching the standards of a full–sized hospital.
As they neared the room, the staff member excused himself, mentioning a quick trip to the restroom. Aurora peeked inside to see a man in his late twenties, calmly attending to a patient with a leg injury
Just follow this prescription, and you should be fine.” Benji instructed, handing over a slip of paper,
