Luna Aurora novel (Alpha Fenrir) novel Chapter 261

Chapter 261

The wilderness seemed endless, each step forward sinking them deeper into a labyrinth of twisted trees and dense underbrush. The air was thick with unease, and even the forest’s creatures seemed restless. Birds flew in erratic patterns, their calls mournful, and strange, haunting melodies echoed through the trees at night.

Matthew’s injuries slowed them down, his limp worsening with every mile. Elyra stayed close to him, guilt clawing at her for the sacrifices he’d made. Dain led the way, his senses on high alert, every crackle of twigs underfoot making him tense.

“Let’s stop here,” Dain said as they reached a stream that gurgled softly under the canopy of stars.

As Matthew settled down with a grimace, Dain insisted Elyra rest. She hesitated but eventually sat beside him at the stream’s edge. The water mirrored the night sky, its surface shimmering with reflected stars.

For a while, they sat in silence, the only sounds the gentle burble of the stream and the distant rustling of leaves.

“Do you ever think about what might have been?” Dain asked, his voice low, barely cutting through the stillness.
