Chapter 47
That evening, Aurora ventured outside for the first time since the attack. The air was cool, and the scent of pine and earth filled her lungs. She walked slowly, her steps unsteady, but the act of moving felt like a small victory.
Iris spotted her and hurried over, a bright smile lighting up her face. “You’re out!”
Aurora managed a faint smile. “I needed some air.”
“I’m glad to see you,” Iris said. “The healer’s been worried. We all have.”
Aurora nodded, her gaze drifting to the forest beyond the camp. “How’s the pack?”
Iris hesitated. “They’re… managing. But things are tense. Everyone knows Fenrir’s not done, and Magnus—” She broke off, shaking her head. “Anyway, they’re holding together. Thanks to Cassian.”
Aurora’s chest tightened at the mention of his name. “He’s been…”
“Relentless,” Iris supplied. “But that’s just who he is. He’d burn himself out for this pack if he thought it would help.”
Aurora looked away, guilt and gratitude warring within her.
