Chapter 51
The sun hung low in the sky, casting long shadows over the camp as the wolves moved about their tasks. Though the physical damage from Fenrir’s attack had been repaired, the emotional scars lingered. Tension hung in the air like a heavy fog, and every movement carried a sense of urgency.
Aurora stood by the training grounds, watching a group of younger wolves spar under Nathan’s watchful eye. Their strikes were precise but lacked the force and confidence of seasoned fighters.
“They’re getting better,” Iris said, appearing beside Aurora with her ever-present basket of herbs.
Aurora nodded absently. “They’re trying. But will it be enough?”
Iris sighed, glancing toward the distant treeline. “If Magnus gets involved, it might not matter how strong we are.”
Aurora’s chest tightened at the mention of Magnus. The stories she’d heard about the Lycan King haunted her—packs destroyed, leaders executed, and entire territories bent to his will.
“I wish we knew what he was planning,” Aurora murmured.
Iris hesitated, then said, “You should talk to Cassian. He’s been working himself to the bone trying to figure that out.”

Cassian was in the war room when Aurora found him, hunched over a map spread across the table. His shoulders were tense, and his jaw was set in a grim line.
“You should rest,” Aurora said softly as she stepped inside.
Cassian glanced up, his expression softening slightly when he saw her. “I’ll rest when Magnus isn’t breathing down our necks.”
Aurora approached the table, her gaze sweeping over the marks on the map. “Do we know what he wants?”
“Power,” Cassian said simply. “And Fenrir’s given him an opportunity to take it.”
Aurora frowned, her mind racing. “Is there a way to stop him before he makes his move?”
Cassian hesitated, his fingers brushing the edge of the map. “That’s what we’re trying to figure out. But Magnus doesn’t operate like Fenrir. He’s subtle—he doesn’t just attack; he dismantles.”
Aurora’s stomach churned at his words. “What do you mean?”
Cassian straightened, his gaze locking onto hers. “Magnus doesn’t just conquer from the outside. He finds weaknesses within a pack and uses them to tear it apart.”

That evening, the tension in the camp came to a head. As the pack gathered in the central hall for the evening meal, Cassian stood at the head of the room, his expression unreadable.
