Chapter 97
That evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, Cassian and Aurora found themselves alone near the edge of the camp. The air was cool and quiet, the sounds of the pack fading into the background.
Cassian turned to Aurora, his gaze soft but intense. “Aurora, I need you to know something.”
Aurora’s chest tightened, her heart pounding as she waited for him to continue.
“You’ve changed everything for me,” he said, his voice low. “The way I see the pack. The way I see myself. I thought I’d lost the chance to find someone I could truly trust, someone who understands what it means to lead and to sacrifice. But then you came along.”
Aurora’s breath caught, her glowing eyes locking onto his. “Cassian…”
He reached for her hand, his fingers warm against hers. “I don’t want to let this slip away. Not when we’ve come this far.”
Aurora’s lips curved into a faint smile, her voice trembling. “Neither do I.”
A week later, Aurora began noticing changes. Subtle at first—waves of nausea in the morning, an unusual fatigue that lingered no matter how much she rested. She tried to brush it off, but the symptoms grew harder to ignore.
