Chapter 120 Revenge
Before he could speak, Beatrice's soft and honeyed voice came through the phone, saying, "Christian, when will you come home for dinner? Jake misses his dad. Let's have a family dinner when Jake comes home. Also, last time you promised to marry me in front of Jake..."
Beatrice hadn't even finished her words when Anastasia had already laughed scornfully. She then raised her eyes and fixed her icily mocking gaze on Christian.
Christian's face instantly turned ashen, and he abruptly hung up the phone with a frown.
He quickly explained, "Jake is my older brother Donny's son. I've just brought him back from abroad. He can't speak and doesn't know about Donny's passing. I was only pretending for him..."
But Anastasia angrily interjected, "Christian, you don't need to explain anything to me. I'm not interested in your affairs, and I'd appreciate it if you'd stop faking such deep emotions. It's incredibly hypocritical!"
Having spoken her piece coldly, Anastasia glanced toward the door and said, "I want to rest now. Leave."
She didn't even want to spare him another look.
Christian's brows were tightly furrowed, his face tense. He pursed his lips, wanting to say something but realizing that she was unlikely to believe anything he said in her current state of anger.
"Alright, you rest well, and call me if anything happens," he said. After a brief pause, he finally turned and left.
She mused, "Did he just tell me to call him if anything happens? That would probably only make things worse!"
A cold laugh escaped from Anastasia as she calmed herself down. Her gaze darkened as she picked up her phone.
"Eleanor, it's me," she said.
Hearing this, Eleanor excitedly rushed to the hospital.
"I couldn't attend the event the other day because something suddenly happened. I can't believe someone used my name to trap you. I'm livid!" she exclaimed.
After Anastasia had changed her outfit, she looked at Eleanor composedly, saying, "It's fine. It was just a scare. The important thing is you're okay."
