Chapter 239 Not Engaged
Christian's action had completely stunned those around him, leaving them astonished.
Especially Jane, who couldn't help but flush and then pale, and her breathing became noticeably heavier.
It felt as if Christian had slapped Jane across the face, leaving her utterly humiliated, stripping her of all dignity.
She felt unbearably infuriated, deeply offended by this.
Spotting this, Ross discreetly gestured to the attendant, who then quickly apologized and retreated from the area.
Ross, who had known Anastasia for quite some time, tried to lighten the mood with a smile. "The 'Tears of the Ocean' was originally yours and now has returned to you again. Seems like fate for me."
Anastasia frowned, her face showing no signs of delight as she looked indifferently at the "Tears of the Ocean" in her hand.
She then forced a smile and handed it back to Christian. "It belongs to you now, Mr. Patterson. Maybe you should give it to your fiancée as an engagement gift?"
She wouldn't have given up during the bidding if she genuinely wanted it.
She'd jacked up the price intentionally, knowing Jane would compete and Christian would never lose to a woman for the sake of his ego.
Everything had gone as she had expected.
Everything had gone as she had expected. However, she hadn't anticipated that Christian would return it to her.
What on earth was he thinking? Anastasia pondered angrily.
Christian's expression turned solemn, his eyes clouded with dark emotions. "What are you talking about? What engagement? What fiancée? There's nothing of the sort. I got this for you. Of course, I must give it to you!" He said sternly.
He then pushed the gemstone back into Anastasia's hand without allowing her to argue.
His words even carried a hint of firm anger.
However, Anastasia wasn't swayed.
