Chapter 141 I Love You
Noah stopped in his tracks, his figure tall and indifferent.
He abruptly turned around to stare at Gwen and sneered with a hint of mockery in his cold eyes.
"Marriage?"
"Miss Kent, when did we have an engagement?"
Gwen's heart skipped a beat, and she widened her eyes.
"As far as I understand, an engagement should be based on mutual consent. Unfortunately, I don't believe we possess such conditions!"
"Noah, you..."
"In the future, it's better to address me as Mr. Martinez." Noah sneered. "Miss Kent, we are not familiar enough for you to call me by my name!"
With that, he turned around sharply, leaving Gwen standing dumbfounded in place.
His figure gradually disappeared from her sight.
Gwen clenched her teeth, tightly gripping her skirt as her heart felt like it was weighed down by a huge stone.
She took a deep breath, calming herself slightly, and then walked into the study.
Pater's face was also gloomy.
Gwen noticed the shattered tea set on the floor and the discarded dragon-headed cane.
Just by looking at these, she could tell that a fierce argument had just taken place between Pater and Noah.
In this situation, Gwen didn't want to get involved. She was about to offer some polite words of comfort and leave when she suddenly heard the sound of a vibrating phone on the coffee table.
"Grandpa, this..."
Pater glanced at it. "Probably Noah left it here. Gwen, why don't you take it to him?"
Gwen was eager for this opportunity and quickly smiled in agreement.
"When you see him, try to persuade him," Pater said lightly and then raised an eyebrow at her. "Gwen, I know you are a magnanimous girl. You won't hold any grudges against him, right?"
Gwen was taken aback.
She had vaguely heard a few words at the door just now, something about a mistress...
Could it be that Pater was hinting to her that even if she were to marry Noah in the future, Noah would have a mistress?
Gwen bit her lip and forced a smile.
"Grandpa, you know me. I'm not someone who meddles in other people's affairs. As long as Noah is happy, I can accept everything about him."
"Really?"
"You have raised Noah so well, so it's impossible that no one else likes him! Grandpa, if Noah truly has someone he likes, he can keep her by his side in the future. Ha, which rich heir isn't a playboy? It's better for him to be with a lady who can keep him, rather than being chased after by some unscrupulous female celebrities!"
"Furthermore, a marriage alliance is a matter between two families." Gwen poured him another cup of tea."Grandpa, for the sake of the family's interests, I won't make a big deal out of it."
Pater nodded approvingly. "I didn't misjudge you. You are indeed suitable for Noah."
"Grandpa, you flatter me."
A fire seemed to burn in Gwen's heart, but her smile remained radiant on her face.
Soon, she went out to deliver Noah's phone.
The phone, which had stopped ringing, suddenly started again.
Gwen slowed her pace, and the screen displayed an unfamiliar number without a name. However, her intuition told her that this number was extraordinary.
Noah was so familiar with the number that he didn't even need to save it as a contact. What kind of relationship did he have with it?
A surge of hatred rose in Gwen's heart. Just as she was about to answer the call, a deep voice suddenly came from behind her!
"What are you doing?"
Gwen was frightened, letting out a scream.
She turned around and met Noah's cold and ruthless gaze, his sharp features appearing exceptionally indifferent in the darkness.
"Noah, haven't you already..."
Noah didn't waste any time talking to her and directly snatched the phone from her hand.
Gwen froze in place, not daring to even take a breath.
He glanced at her and coldly asked, "Aren't you leaving yet?"
She snapped back to her senses, her legs trembling as she stumbled backward.
