Chapter 143 Wanted to Go Back
Stella looked at her in confusion but followed her words to close the door tightly.
Peggy sat on the chair, staring blankly at a certain place outside the window with a serious and gloomy expression.
"Mom..." Stella squatted in front of her.
"Stella." After a long time, Peggy regained her senses and slowly turned her head to look at the small box in the corner. "Go get that."
Stella was taken aback, her heart suddenly pounding. She was uneasy.
She did as she was told. The small box made of rosewood was not heavy, and she could lift it with one hand. The surface of the box was intricately carved with hidden patterns, which was quite special.
Stella was curious about this box when she was a child, but Peggy always forbade her to touch it, so she suppressed her curiosity.
This was the first time she had been so close to this box in her life.
There was a vintage brass lock on the box, which was rare to see in this era.
"Stella." Peggy said with some sadness, "I am not a good mother, always bringing you trouble. Even when you got married, I couldn't see it with my own eyes."
"Take this box back and consider it as your dowry from me."
"But... unless there's something special, don't open it. Remember?"
Stella was stunned, feeling confused for a moment.
Was there a secret in this box?
The brass lock on it looked very sturdy and not easy to open, but Peggy didn't mention anything about the key.
Peggy gave her the box but didn't give her the key, nor did Peggy say what was inside the box...
What did this mean?
Stella wanted to ask, but Peggy looked very tired and turned around to lie on the bed.
"You can go out." She turned her back to Stella. "I want to rest for a while."
Stella bit her lip.
The doctor said that her mother's illness was most afraid of being stimulated.
And she subconsciously felt that this box was something that could stimulate her mother. So no matter how many doubts she had in her heart, she tried her best to hold back and gently closed the bedroom door.
Stella brought the box back home and placed it in the same cabinet as her jewelry box.
She looked at it for a long time and sighed softly. Just as she was about to close the cabinet door, she suddenly felt that the antique hidden patterns on the box were very familiar, as if she had seen them somewhere.
But she couldn't remember.
She lay on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling as if walking in a maze with no way out. Her mind was in chaos.
......
Andrew booked a return flight ticket for Noah and presented him with several selected time slots, but he impatiently rejected them all.
Andrew didn't know what to do, as he had never encountered such a situation before.
In the end, he sought advice from the esteemed lawyer, Caleb.
Lawyers were astute and could see through things at a glance. Caleb lightly smiled and circled the earliest red-eye flight.
Andrew was stunned and couldn't say a word for a while.
"Master Noah used to hate taking these late-night flights!"
"Now he will like it."
"But... There are no first-class seats available for this flight."
"Just book him an economy class, the kind where three people squeeze into one row!"
Andrew broke out in a cold sweat.
"Just do what I say!" Caleb was experienced. "Even if you make him hang on the plane and go back, he will do that!"
Sure enough, after Andrew booked the red-eye economy class, Noah arrived on time with his luggage and rushed to board the plane in the middle of the night.
Arriving in Eldoria at 3 o'clock in the morning, he couldn't wait to rush into the house.
However, as soon as he entered, he was almost tripped by a pair of men's casual shoes!
Noah was startled because these shoes weren't his.
He slowed down and walked inside, only to hear the sound of a man snoring!
His expression immediately changed, but luckily the room was not big. He took a few steps and entered the living room, only to suddenly discover a person lying on the sofa...
Jericho?
Noah slowly lowered his raised fist.
