“Could it be that you’re right? That I really have the potential to be a scumbag. I found him familiar when we first met, and now I even had such a dream…” Lumma seemed to think of something funny and smiled foolishly. “Will I have a sex dream as well?”
Adam was speechless.
No wonder she stared at him the first day they met. She thought he seemed familiar but couldn’t remember who he was.
He almost missed her at that time, but fortunately he decided to keep her.
“Ruby, tell me, am I annoying?”
“Who said that you’re annoying?”
“If not, why did everyone leave me?” Her face became distorted as if she was caught in painful memories. “Mom, Dad, that person, and Lucas…”
Hearing her mention his name, Adam suddenly paused with mixed emotions welling up in his heart.
He stroked her forehead and said, “Don’t worry. Lucas will not leave you.”
Lumma ignored his promise and kept talking about the secret hidden in her heart, “I study and work very hard, and I obviously did nothing wrong. Why did everyone blame me?”-
“There’s nothing wrong with you. The others who harmed you are wrong.”
“Really?”
“Yeah.”
Hearing the affirmative answer, Lumma’s frowning brows slowly relaxed, and she gradually fell asleep.
Adam sat beside her bed, picked up several strands of her black and smooth hair, and brought them closer to smell them.
“What kind of shampoo did she use? Why did her hair smell so good?” He thought.
After a while, Lumma seemed to be frightened by something and slipped into his arms again.
“Don’t be afraid,” he coaxed her softly and hugged her until dawn.
Thinking that she might wake up soon, Adam got up and left.
