Anita covered her painful face, not daring to say a word.
She was the only daughter of the Hawes family. Everyone thought she was the treasure of the entire family, but very few people knew what she had actually experienced.
Seeing her being silent, Stewart was even more furious. He raised his hand and wanted to slap her again. “Are you dumb?”
Anita shivered and shrank. “Stewart, don’t worry. I will continue to contact her. I will do whatever you ask me to do, and I will never question you again.”
Stewart withdrew his hand. “You are so close to Judy. Can’t you just ask her who is Adam’s wife?”
Anita curled up and said tremblingly, “I did, but Judy hasn’t met her sister-in-law yet. She doesn’t know her appearance, let alone her name.”
Stewart wished he could slap her again. “She hasn’t? Then why didn’t you encourage her to meet that woman? She is Adam’s sister. What could possibly happen?”
Anita said, “I’ll contact her immediately and try to let her take me to meet that woman.”
Stewart said, “Remember, ask Judy to find out why Adam suddenly announced that he is married. If Adam doesn’t get a divorce, you can never marry him.”
Anita said, “Okay.”
Stewart raised his hand and poked Anita’s forehead hard. “You’re so useless. If you were only half as capable as your mother, you would be able to handle Adam easily.”
