Married to the Boss: A Love in Disguise Chapter 228
Lumma held a grudge, upset at being called a silly girl twice.
Adam chuckled. “If not a silly girl, what should I call you? Little smarty?”
Lumma was speechless.
Adam added, “You are smart, so you should believe in your capabilities. Hills Group doesn’t carry any freeloaders. The fact that you’ve climbed to your current position with your own hard work is proof enough of how outstanding you are. Don’t doubt yourself because of anyone, including me. Understand?”
“I understand.” Adam was right. If Lumma didn’t believe in her own abilities, she wouldn’t have the audacity to ask these questions.
But his answer was once again unexpected. He never hesitated to praise his subordinates and affirm their abilities, a quality only a truly capable leader could possess.
Unlike leaders at some companies who constantly doubted their subordinates’ abilities, claiming that no one would want them if they left the company.
Such bullying in the workplace, while acting as if they should be grateful for having a job to do.
After more than half an hour’s drive, they arrived at the dining destination for the evening.
Coincidentally, in the basement parking lot of the restaurant, they bumped into Simon, an old
acquaintance.
Simon was arm in arm with a woman heavily made-up. Her makeup was so thick that her actual age.
was indiscernible.
Seeing Adam and Lumma out dining so late, Simon’s curiosity was instantly piqued. “Adam, Lumma, you two…”
The woman by Simon’s side was starstruck upon seeing Adam. “Mr. Mills, introduce your friend, will you?”
Adam gave Simon a cold glance. “Do you ever want to leave your house again?”
What did it mean to speak few but stern words?
Adam was the epitome of that. His strength lay in his ability to create the greatest deterrent with
the fewest words.
Simon knew the deterrent power of Adam’s words and instantly backed down. “I was just joking. You guys don’t need to take it seriously.”
“A joke is only a joke if both parties find it funny. You are disrespecting people. We came here to have dinner together, and you can’t assume they have something to hide just because you saw them first.” Ruby, who had arrived a bit later, got out of the car just in time to hear Simon teasing Lumma. Normally, Ruby was straight-forward, but when Lumma was being bullied, she feared no
one.
Simon asked, “Where did this wild girl come from?”
Ruby argued, “Say ‘wild girl’ one more time, believe it or not, I’ll tear your mouth apart!”
