Chapter 357
Adam saw the fear in Lumma’s eyes. But he had already started the topic, if he didn’t finish it, she would only think more. “Lumma, it’s not that what I said
is cruel, but that this society is so cruel. It is also a cruel reality that Keeley has
to face.”
Lumma had never met her mother, and her father passed away early. In the
past twenty-four years, she had seen too much reality in this society. She understood many things better than anyone else. But she was unwilling to accept it. She sometimes thought naively that with hard work, anything could
be accomplished.
Her clenched hands loosened and tightened, then tightened and then loosened. “So do you mean that as long as George doesn’t let Keeley go, Keeley will never be able to escape George’s control except death?”
Adam pushed the silver-rimmed spectacle frame on the nose and said, “Yes.”
“Mr. Hills, thank you for telling the truth!” Lumma thanked him and picked up a spoon to drink soup, but she lost her appetite and even felt nauseated.
“Mr. Hills, eat slowly. I ate a lot last night. So I won’t eat because I’m not hungry.” Lumma hurriedly got up, ran to the guest room on the second floor, rushed into the bathroom, and hugged the toilet, vomiting until she was dizzy
and didn’t spit out anything.
She sat on the floor dejectedly, took out her mobile phone, and looked at Keeley’s phone number. Several times, she wanted to call or send a message to Keeley, but she didn’t have the courage.
Lumma knew very well that what Adam said was right. Keeley could not escape from George. And it might be best not to let her know that she was still under George’s control.
Did she really have to accept her fate like this?
Lumma didn’t know and was in a mess.
