Married to the Boss: A Love in Disguise Chapter 55
Lumma said goodnight to Adam and headed for her room.
When she was several inches away from the wooden building, she heard a woman’s soft
sobbing.
In the deep mountains, in the middle of the night, the wind blew the rustle of leaves, accompanied by the cry of a woman… They were what exactly constituted a horror film.
Lumma freaked out and got goosebumps. She was about to run away. But out of curiosity, she glanced at the source of the sound.
Not far away, a weeping woman sat under a tree, and the faint light shone on her through the branches.
Lumma recognized her. It was George’s wife, Keeley. She was a beauty with a soft and sweet sound and got a lovely smile, which would raise people’s desire to protect her.
Why was she crying outside in the middle of the night? Where was George? Didn’t he take care of her?
“Give the waterworks a rest. Tears are the most useless thing.” George’s deep voice
came from the darkness.
He was right next to the tree trunk. Lumma didn’t see him at first sight because of the
dim light.
The tone he spoke to Keeley was more indifferent than a stranger’s. He was completely different from one who doted on Keeley during the day.
Keeley wiped away her tears and said as if mustering up her courage, “George, let’s get
a divorce!”
“Divorce?” George sneered, pinched Keeley’s chin, and raised her head to make her look at him. “Keeley, do you think you can end our marriage? From the moment you tried all means to step through the door of the Marple family, you’re not leaving the family even if you die.”
“What a domineering and powerful man!”
Lumma thought to herself silently and sneaked away.
Unexpectedly, Adam spoke almost at the same time as her. His voice was deep, powerful, and serious. “Callum, don’t make such jokes about ladies.”
“You two are not what I think?” Callum didn’t believe there was nothing between Adam ad Lumma. Even if nothing had happened now, something would definitely happen in
the future.
Having known Adam for so many years, Callum had never seen Adam’s eyes stay on any woman for more than three seconds.
But Adam looked at Lumma with tenderness and affection. Maybe Adam hadn’t realized it. After all, he needed more time to figure out love.
It would only be a joke if both parties found it funny. So Callum apologized, “Ms. Louis,
I’m sorry!”
Lumma didn’t want to talk to him, no matter whether he was a big shot.
Louisa took Lumma aside and said apologetically, “Lumma, I apologize to you on behalf of Callum. He usually doesn’t joke with people he isn’t familiar with. Because Mr. Hills brought you here, he thinks that you two are a couple. That’s why he joked about that.”
“Mrs. Park, it’s okay.” Lumma knew very well what kind of the party was. Her coming was a mistake, and no one else was to blame.
If Lumma had known that Adam would bring her to such a friend gathering, she would have preferred not to take the triple salary.
