Chapter 701
Cristina remained where she was without moving.
Eugene continued to clean his face with the water.
Seeing this, Cristina came over. She stood in front of him, picked up a towel, and tried to help him with the wounds on his forehead. “She’s your stepmother?”
Eugene looked at Cristina and said, “Are you taking pity on me?”
Cristina looked at him and said, “Aren’t you good at it? You were so good at hurting me. Why did you get yourself hurt now in front of your mother?”
Eugene heard her words and said, “It’s no big deal. It’s not like she’s going to kill me!”
Ella had to depend on him for the rest of her life, so she wouldn’t want to kill him.
Cristina looked at Eugene in disbelief. He just allowed his mother to beat him up as she pleased because his mother wasn’t going to kill him?
Cristina couldn’t believe that Eugene had said something like that.
She looked at him and said, “Your mother has always been like this?”
Eugene lowered his head and washed his hands, without answering.
Cristina said, “It’s against the law for her to do that. Why don’t you sue her? She can’t treat you like that even if she’s your mother, can she?”
Hearing her words, Eugene looked at Cristina. “Are you nuts?”
Cristina was stunned. “What did you say?”
She was so concerned about him! Yet he called her nuts?
Eugene said, “That’s my mother. Who are you to say that about her? I had feelings for you before. Does that make you think that you are my girlfriend? I don’t love you, Cristina. You should know that. Don’t get it wrong.”
With that, Eugene pushed her away and went straight to the walk-in closet.
He stood in front of the mirror, changed his clothes, and walked out to take care of his wounds as usual.
Cristina stood there and looked at him, thinking of what he had just said.
She didn’t know what she had done to offend him.
Nor did she know why he had to treat her like this.
When Eugene and Cristina came downstairs, Roderick and the two kids were alone in the living room.
