Chapter 742 Ella’s Arrival
“Who’s it?” Theresa inquired Brenda, still lying on the bed.
Brenda replied, “It’s Mr. Oneill’s mother.”
Upon hearing the name, Theresa felt a sense of annoyance. Wondering why this person would come over, she quickly got out of bed and put on her shoes to head downstairs. If it were anyone else, she wouldn’t be so bothered, but this woman was sort of psycho in her eyes, and she was afraid that the woman would make a scene.
Eugene’s mother, Ella, was sitting on the sofa downstairs with Cristina whose face was still not fully healed from the scratches Ella had inflicted. Cristina watched Ella warily, her eyes shooting daggers at her. Theresa was afraid that she had come down too late and that they might have already started fighting. When she noticed them sitting silent, she breathed a sigh of relief, asking Ella frankly, “Why are you here?” Looking up at Theresa, Ella grinned. “I’ve been feeling guilty about what I did before, so I am here to apologize. Theresa, this is a gift for you. I hope you would like it.” She handed Theresa a box.
As Theresa observed the gift that Ella had brought, she remembered that Ella had almost injured Leonard before. Holding the gift half-heartedly, she claimed, “Okay, I take the gift. But you should leave now, Madam. Your health isn’t good, and it’s late.”
Ella smiled faintly. “Thank you for your concern.” Then she turned to Cristina, demanding with seeming care, “So, Cristina, you’re staying here too?”
As soon as Ella spoke, Theresa’s heart raced with worry. “Cristina is my friend, and she’s staying with me for the time being. Do you have a problem with that?”
With her eyes fixed on Cristina’s face, Ella asked Cristina, “Does your face still hurt?” She was more interested in Cristina than the level-headed Theresa for Cristina was easily provoked.
