Chapter 67: A Lifetime of Misunderstandings
Mrs. Sterling quickly wiped down the tables and chairs, apologizing that the diner was small and might not have everything they liked.
“Twenty lamb skewers, twenty beef skewers, twenty pork belly skewers, grilled squid… let’s say ten, and…
OX tongue, that’s good, twenty of those, oysters,

patted his arm to stop him.
“That’s barely anything! I want pig’s trotters,
“Dad, that’s plenty,” Sonya smiled.
Seeing Sonya speak, Benjamin finally handed the menu over.
“I’m done. Your turn.”
Sonya twitched a little. Had he ordered all that for himself?
definitely pig’s trotters.”
Linda glared at him and said to Mrs. Sterling, “Please add some vegetables, lots of vegetables.”
Mrs. Sterling smiled.“Okay, just a moment.”
Benjamin looked around curiously at the various food stalls nearby – braised meat, roast chicken, roast goose.“This place is great! If only I could live here…”
“You’d be in the hospital in two days,” Linda huffed.
Benjamin chuckled, unfazed.“Why are you

Linda glanced around.“I’m a big star. I have fans everywhere.”
“They wouldn’t even recognize you. But you look so sneaky, it’s hard not to recognize you.”
“You’re the sneaky one.”
They bickered for a moment, noticing a few students eyeing them.
“Mom, let’s go see Henry’s room upstairs.”
“Okay, okay.”
Sonya led the way; Linda quickly covered her face. They greeted Mrs. Sterling before going upstairs.
A clean, neat apartment greeted them.
Sonya took Linda to Henry’s bedroom.“He stayed here when he came back from studying abroad. Brother Sterling and Mrs. Sterling kept it for him.”
Sonya turned to see Linda standing at the doorway, her expression complex and sad.
She pulled Linda inside and sat her on Henry’s bed.
Henry returning to this place instead of the Reynolds family mansion during his studies suggested a rift with his parents. Even now, Sonya sensed a distance, especially between Henry and his father. They rarely saw each other alone; any interaction led to an argument. Linda touched Henry’s desk, his books, his pillow, his bed. Her eyes welled up.
“When Henry ran away, he secretly sent us a letter a month later. The tone was harsh, but it let us

know he was okay. That’s him- responsible, considerate of his parents. But then he went abroad. and didn’t contact us for four years. Even when he came back, he didn’t come home, didn’t let us know. Later, even when he did come home…”
Linda sighed. “There’s a misunderstanding between us. A misunderstanding that will never be
resolved.”
Sonya frowned.“What misunderstanding?”
Never be resolved?
Linda sighed.“No… I don’t want to talk about that person.”
Mrs. Sterling called from downstairs that the skewers were ready,
“Mom, let’s go down,” Sonya said.
Linda shook her head.“Can I stay here for a bit?”
Sonya nodded.“I’ll go down then.”
“Okay.”
As Sonya reached the stairs, she remembered something and went back, finding Linda crying, hugging Henry’s pillow.
Sonya paused and took a photo.
She didn’t believe any misunderstanding was unsolvable. They just needed to talk openly.
Downstairs, Benjamin was already enjoying his meal, happily munching on skewers and pig’s trotters. Sonya took a picture of him; he saw her and asked for more.
“I can look at these photos when I’m dieting, to remind myself,” he said.
Sonya took several photos. Then her phone buzzed.
It was Little Invincible Lazy Cat.
Invincible Invincible Lazy Cat: Sister, too bad you didn’t come today. All my tests were good. The baby has a heartbeat!
Sonya: Congratulations.
Invincible Invincible Lazy Cat: Sister, Hu Gege saw the baby today. He liked it!
Sonya: Oh?
Invincible Invincible Lazy Cat: He might agree to keep the baby!
Sonya: You can decide for yourself.
Invincible Invincible Lazy Cat: Can you persuade Hu Gege to keep the baby? I’ll even let the baby call
you “Grandma“!
Sonya couldn’t help but laugh.
Benjamin, mouth full of food, said, “What’s so funny?”
Sonya said, “A girl said she’s pregnant, and the father is Henry.”
