"Do you know how much I don't want to see your face?"
This face… the one he can't escape from in his dreams, was now standing right in front of him!
Emma's body trembled at his words.
She looked into the pair of cold and disgusted eyes. Her throat suddenly became dry, and even breathing became difficult.
William Montgomery hated her, but she already knew that.
She didn't want William to see how affected she was by his presence, so she pretended to be calm and averted her gaze. She saw that the back of his hand was still bleeding. Emma turned around to get the medical tape while trying to find her voice.
"You are just my patient."
Emma had started to reach out her hand to redo the IV, but William's cold and disgusted voice sounded in her ear.
"Get the hell out of my face!"
Her hand froze mid air and something in her eyes flickered. She gave a small shrug and withdrew her hand. "Sure. I'll go grab a nurse then."
"Don't make me repeat myself." William's voice was practically dripping ice.
William made Emma feel like simply being in her presence disgusted him.
The ache in her heart returned. She responded with a quick nod. "Alright, well… if you have any problems, press the button beside your bed."
His only reply was silence.
The man lying on the bed pursed his lips into a thin line. Emma didn’t say another word.
Emma Lang no longer wanted to humiliate herself. She quickly gathered her stuff and turned to escape from the suffocating room.
She put her hand back into her pocket and stepped aside to let Jennifer in.
Jennifer was only stunned for a moment, she looked at William's indifferent face and understood that this was all just a coincidence and felt relieved.
Jennifer pretended as if nothing was out of the ordinary and rushed over to where William was resting. She sat down by the bed and said in a gentle voice, "William baby, do we know why you fainted? You scared me half to death.”
Emma leaned sideways and tried her best to suppress her rupturing emotions.
Fake it till you make it, Emma. She cleared her throat, "Mr. Montgomery fainted due to acute gastritis. In the future, please pay attention to his diet. Less greasy food and make sure to have three meals a day.
"Also," she paused and considered stopping there, but she couldn't help but add, "Drinking on an empty stomach could be a cause of this illness."
William's dark eyes narrowed, and his jaw tightened as he glared at her.
Drinking on an empty stomach? She clearly remembered his habits well!
