Chapter 201 Do You Want to Touch My Face?
Sofia Schneider walked in and crouched down in front of the old woman, saying, “Ma’am, hello, I’m Sofia.”
The old woman became even more excited, leaning toward Sofia, sniffing the air as if trying to figure something out by scent.
Sofia stayed still, letting the woman come closer without showing any discomfort.
Archer Sanders looked at her with gratitude.
If it had been another woman, they probably would’ve been disgusted by now, maybe even furious.
But Sofia was being incredibly patient and gentle with the old woman, and this touched Archer deeply, so much that his eyes began to redden.
Finally, after sniffing Sofia for a long time, the old woman suddenly burst into tears. She reached out like she wanted to hug Sofia but then hesitated, too careful and scared to actually touch her.
Sofia didn’t understand the old woman’s behavior, but she didn’t find it off–putting.
Instead, she gently took the woman’s hand and asked, “Ma’am, do you want to touch my face?”
“Ah, ah, ah…” The old woman made excited sounds, tears streaming down her face even
more.
Sofia guided the woman’s hand to her face, letting her feel it with her trembling, aged fingers.
The moment the old woman’s hand touched Sofia’s face, her emotions intensified. She sobbed harder and shook uncontrollably.
This left Sofia unsure of what to do, so she looked to Archer, hoping he could calm the woman down.
But Archer seemed just as surprised as Sofia–he didn’t know what to do either.

She held the old woman’s wrist and quietly checked her pulse. That’s when she found something unusual.
This woman should have been in good health, but clearly, that wasn’t the case. Her condition wasn’t because of any natural illness; she had been poisoned.

Sofia couldn’t yet identify what kind of poison it was, but she was certain that the woman had been harmed deliberately.
However, Sofia didn’t say anything to Archer right away.
She still didn’t know what had happened to the woman, how much Archer knew, or why he had left her in this place.
Until she figured out the full story, she wasn’t going to reveal anything.
Eventually, the old woman became so overwhelmed with emotion that she passed out, her hand falling away from Sofia’s face.
Archer, looking apologetic, said, “Sofia, I’m so sorry. I had no idea she’d react like that when she saw you.”
Sofia shook her head. “It’s fine.”
Archer gently carried the old woman to the bed, and it was only then that Sofia noticed her body was so twisted that she couldn’t even straighten up.
Even lying down, she remained curled up.
Archer covered her with a blanket, then went to the table to prepare the traditional medicine he had picked up earlier from the pharmacy.
Sofia watched as he opened all the medicine bags and dumped everything into a kettle. Her brow furrowed, and she asked, “What are you doing?”
“She can’t take medicine like a normal person. All I can do is put it in the kettle and hope she drinks whatever she can,” Archer explained.
Sofia could hear the helplessness in his voice.
“But… doing it this way will ruin the medicine’s effectiveness. The medicine she’s drinking

“I know,” Archer said, his eyes downcast. “But I don’t have any other options.”
