Demetrius nodded after hearing Yvette’s words, gently saying, “Okay, if you say there’s no need, then there’s no need.” 

Cyrus let out a bitter sigh, realizing that all he had said was no match for a single word from Yvette. 

Dylan noticed that the tension in the room had finally cased. Taking advantage of the moment when no one was paying attention, he discreetly wiped his sweat. In his heart, he had been worried earlier that Yvette and Demetrius might get angry and team up to shoot Cyrus. 

Demetrius said, “Finished your check–up? I’ll send you out.” 

With a relaxed expression, Yvette nodded and raised her eyebrows, saying, “Yeah, Emmett’s at the mansion.” 

Demetrius nodded. “Sure, let’s go to the mansion first, then I’ll take you and Emmett out.” 

Yvette and Demetrius chatted as they left the pool, completely ignoring Cyrus, who stood not far away. 

Seeing this, Dylan quickly approached and said, “Mr. Becker, Mr. Becker and Ms. Zeller haven’t seen each other in a long time. They’re probably just too happy and momentarily forgot you were here.” 

Hearing this, Cyrus‘ expression did not change. He did not understand what Dylan meant by “haven’t seen each other in a long time“, wondering whether that dinner two days ago was for nothing. 

Completely uncomforted, Cyrus snorted coldly and, with a stern face, went to the study to handle official matters. 

Dylan rubbed his nose. It was not easy to survive in the workplace these days; he even had to blatantly lie. Meanwhile, as Yvette and Demetrius arrived at the mansion’s entrance, they saw Emmett coming out, looking a bit uncomfortable. 

Upon seeing Yvette and Demetrius approaching, Emmett said in a low voice, “Yvette, Mr. Becker.” 

He then spoke to Yvette alone, saying, “Yvette, I’ve escorted Ms. Becker to her room. She might’ve been too tired, so she f- fell asleep.” 

When he mentioned that she fell asleep, Emmett blushed even more. As soon as Alice entered the room, she lay on the bed and fell asleep in less than two minutes, leaving him standing there, at a loss. 

Hearing Alice’s steady breathing, Emmett finally fled the room in a hurry. 

Sitting in his wheelchair, Demetrius was quite surprised upon knowing this. Since childhood, Alice had never fallen asleep in front of strangers before. She always had to wait for him to come back and tuck her to sleep. He wondered what happened today. 

Emrit felt uneasy under Demetrius gaze. Although he had not done anything out of line, something just felt off, though held not quite put his finger on it. It was as if he had committed a sin. 

Demetrius withdrew his gaze from Emmett and politely thanked him. “Thank you for taking Alice back to her room.” 

Emmett quickly nodded and waved his hand. “N–No need for that.” 

Yvette narrowed her eyes slightly, lowering her gaze as she spoke to Emmett with a husky voice. “Let’s go.” 

Demetrius personally escorted Yvette and Emmett to the gates of the presidential palace. After watching them leave, he turned around, his eyes brewing with a storm of fury. 

What exactly did this woman named Leilani do? How could she make Yvette so angry?‘ he mused.

Then he said sternly to the clectronic device on his wrist, “Send me everything that happened today along with the surveillance footage to my study, right now.”

In the study, Demetrius watched the surveillance footage from today. Scene by scene, especially when Leilani called Alice a fool, saying she was unwanted, a burden, and had been mistreater, a murderous aura radiated from him. 

‘No wonder Yvette wanted to kill Leilani. That woman deserves to die, Demetrius cursed inwardly. 

Demetrius turned off the video and picked up the phone, dialing a number. Once the call connected, he immediately said, “From today onward, launch a full–scale attack on the Markos family. Within a month, I want them completely disappeared in Mysonna’s property industry.” 

After hanging up, Demetrius ordered for Leilani’s other leg to be broken before having her sent back to the Markos family. 

Emmett was driving and glanced back at the rear seat. After thinking for a while, he finally asked, “Yvette, was Alice injured when she was young? Is that why she’s like this now?” 

Yvette looked up. While replying to Jeremiah’s text, she said, “Yeah, when she was six, she got hurt after being kidnapped by people from the slums. Her mental capacity was permanently halted at six.” 

Emmett felt a pang in his heart. ‘The slums? Six years old? Kidnapping?‘ Just those few words were enough for him to understand that Alice must have endured unimaginable pain and torment. 

‘Kidnapping a six–year–old? Those people from the slums deserve to die!‘ Emmett’s face darkened, his voice cold. “Yvette, what about the people who kidnapped Alice? Are they still alive? 

Yvette put away her phone, her voice indifferent, answering, “They’re dead. I shattered their bones and threw them into a pack of guard dogs, leaving nothing behind.” 

As he drove, Emmett could not help but curse himself for not being able to personally kill those people. 

Yvette looked at Emmett’s expression, tilted her head slightly, and asked seriously, “Do you like Alice?” 

When Emmett heard this, he did not know where to put his feet almost pressing the brake instead of the accelerator. Flustered, his cold face instantly turned red. 

“I… Yvette, I–I’m not a pervert or abnormal. I like Alice, but I…” he stammered. 

Emmett stammered twice today, unable to respond. Facing Yvette’s gaze, he did not even know how to answer. After all, he had never dated and did not know what it felt like to like someone. 

He had always thought he and Jeremiah remain bachelors for life, but nobody would have thought Jeremiah would meet Yvette and end his bachelor streak. 

Now that he had met Alice, he wondered whether this feeling really called “liking” her. He was not sure. All he knew was that when Alice hugged him, his heart pounded uncontrollably. ‘Is it what it means to like someone?‘ 

Yvette leaned back, looking at Emmett, whose ears were red, and said calmly, “Emmett, don’t get any ideas about Alice, or Demetrius will break your legs.” 

Emmett was stunned before calming down for a while. He looked at Yvette, asking, “Yvette, if I really end up liking Alice, would you break my legs too?”
