Ten minutes later, Sienna, Frankie, Bruce, and Chris were all seated on the couch. Their postures was perfectly synchronized and their gazes uniformly focused on Emmett and Alice, who were munching on snacks. 

Bruce and the other two agreed wholeheartedly with Frankie’s earlier statement–love was truly a mystical thing. 

Just as Emmett finished the last packet of crackers, Yvette and Jeremiah descended the stairs from the second floor. Everyone in the living room stood up to greet them.

The moment Alice saw Yvette, she darted toward Yvette and threw herself into that woman’s arms. 

Just like when she was a child, she nuzzled Yvette’s shoulder. However, this time, she could only nuzzle a few times before Jeremiah grabbed the back of her shirt and yanked her away. 

A considerate person, Jeremiah only grabbed her clothes and did not use much force. Alice struggled in dissatisfaction for a moment but soon realized she couldn’t escape. She hung her head, looking pitiful, and tears started to well up in her eyes. 

Emmett quickly stepped forward, shielding Alice behind him. He explained, “Jeremiah, Alice didn’t mean it.” 

Yvette tilted her head, giving Jeremiah a sideways glance with narrowed eyes. She slowly approached Alice, gently patted her head, and asked softly, “What do we do when we can’t win?” 

Alice stubbornly held back her tears. With a soft and childlike voice that was devoid of any threat but resolutely firm, she said, “You said if we can’t win, ambush them. Kick the guys in the crotch and pull the girls by their hair.” 

Everyone else there were both amused and exasperated by Alice’s innocent response. It was clear that Yvette had taught her -she even declared her ambush tactics so boldly. 

Alice puffed her cheeks and glared at Jeremiah, clearly ready to fight. 

Her arms crossed, Yvette stepped aside and casually leaned back as her narrowed eyes playfully scanned Jeremiah. Then, she turned to Alice and said, “Be ruthless and quick. Go for it.” 

Across from them, Jeremiah stood there, coughed lightly, and gave Emmett a look. Emmett hurriedly turned around and grabbed Alice, who was already balling her fists and ready to charge. He said, “Be good, Alice. I’ll take you to the garden to play.” 

The moment Alice heard “garden,” her mood instantly shifted. She completely forgot about fighting Jeremiah and grabbed Emmett’s hand. “Let’s go to the garden, Emmett!” she chirped, dragging him off enthusiastically. 

The two of them left. The rest who were still around–Frankie, Sienna, and Bruce–stood there staring at Yvette. They swore they saw a look of surprise on Yvette’s face for the first time. 

Nothing could faze Yvette, not even a collision between two planets. It seemed that Alice abandoning her úght with Jeremiah to gor in the garden had dealt quite the blow to Yvette. 

Noticing Yvette’s slightly surprised expression, Jeremiah smirked and approached her. “Looks like Emmett’s charm worked pretty well,” he said in a relaxed tone. 

Yvette paused. She lifted her gaze lazily and replied leisurely, “Are you asking for a beating, Jeremiah?” 

Jeremiah took this as a sign that Yvette was both embarrassed and irritated. 

The four spectators exchanged glances and silently took two steps back in unison, thinking it was best not to get caught in the crossfire when both of them fought… 

Jeremiah’s gaze darkened. “Quite possibly. But if you’re going to hit me, I get to pick where.” His voice carried a teasing note.

The others instantly got his meaning, though Chris was half a beat slower than the rest. Everyone silently roasted Jeremiah in their minds. 

Frankie thought, ‘When it comes to cheekiness, Jeremiah’s the one. The serious and aloof Jeremiah from before is gone, and the Jeremiah standing before Yve now is a flirt.” 

Sienna thought, ‘He’s bold. So bold. If anyone can flirt with Yve like that, it’s only Jeremiah!‘ 

Bruce thought, ‘I wonder if Sienna likes that kind of banter. Might be worth trying! 

Chris‘ expression was one of disbelief and awe. He thought, ‘Love’s so nauseating. Jeremiah’s even worse.’ 

Alhough their minds were filled with thoughts, none of them dared say a word. 

Yvette looked at Jeremiah with a faintly amused smile that turned into a devil–may–care grin. Just as she was about to speak, she was interrupted by the ringing phone in her pocket. 

She pulled it out and glanced at it before answering in front of everyone.. 

It was Demetrius on the other end, calling just before boarding a flight to Sumanthova. He wanted Alice to stay with Yvette for a while, and Yvette agreed without hesitation. 

After hanging up, she looked at Jeremiah. “Pick for yourself? Did I give you that option?” Her tone carried a lazy indifference that masked her emotions, and her demeanor was commanding and icy. 

Before the other four could react, Yvette threw a kick. Jeremiah, whose reflexes were fast, dodged her sweeping strike. Seeing the fire in her eyes, he knew this fight was inevitable. 

He smirked. The first two buttons of his white shirt were undone exposing his defined collarbones. He radiated restraint from head to toe. “You really want to fight?” 

Yvette nonchalantly rolled up her sleeves, revealing her slender, tanned wrists. Her eyes were clear and resolute. “Fight me,” she replied. 

Jeremiah paused for a few seconds. After all the time they had known each other, this seemed to be the right moment for proper fight. “Alright,” he said.
