John frowned. He helped Sherry wipe off a bead of sweat trickling down her forehead and tried to comfort her. “Don’t be scared, they’re gone now and they’re never going to come back.”

Sherry was about to nod reactively but quickly caught herself. She frowned and turned to John with an air of indignation. “When did I say I was scared? I just said that my hands are numb after slapping him.”

John smiled. “Yeah, I know.”

He gently caressed her still-swollen face. “Come on, let’s head up there first.”

Sherry took several steps before a sudden thought came to her. She suddenly cried out exasperatedly, “Why did we even let them go? I should’ve called the police!”

They had revealed that it was Aiden who employed them. If she had the police arrest them, they would have concrete evidence and could press charges against Aiden!

If she had done so, she would have been able to exact her revenge on Aiden and also chase him out of Sager Corporation for Lina and Carl.

The more she thought about it, the more she regretted not having done so. Soon, she directed her anger toward John.

He was the one who ordered Jason and Nelson to let them go!

John merely chuckled as if it did not concern him.

He smiled bewitchingly and was as pompous as usual.

He suddenly stated, “I already told Jason to call the police, they should arrive soon.”

Sherry was puzzled by this. “What’s the use of calling the police now that those thugs are already gone?”

“They have eyes on the street. Those thugs can only hide for a day at most before they get caught,” John informed calmly, “If things go well, I’d wager the police will have them all arrested by tomorrow morning. After they give their confession, the police will have a cause to arrest Aiden immediately after that.”

Upon bringing this up, he revealed a cunning smile and asked, “Tell me, would you rather the police arrest Aiden at his house tonight, or would you prefer that they storm Sager Corporation tomorrow morning and have him arrested in front of everyone?”

Sherry was taken aback by this idea.

“Besides, you’ve given those two thugs quite a heavy slap. If the police were to arrest them tonight, the police might think that it’s a common fight and drop it at that. It will be better to wait till tomorrow morning after the swelling has gone down.”

With that, he suddenly took Sherry’s hand again and asked with a warm tint of concern in his voice, “Why are your hands shaking again? Are you feeling cold?”

Sherry answered reluctantly, “Well…it’s a little cold I guess.”

It was not only her hands that were shaking, but her entire body was also shivering and even her hair was standing on its end.
