Master of his heart (Max and Brielle) novel Chapter 1026

Since Brielle had been engaged to Spencer from an early age, she always saw him as her future husband. To avoid complications at school, she hardly ever initiated conversations with other guys.

Even when she went abroad for a student exchange, she kept to herself, quiet and reserved. This led everyone to call her "the Ice Queen," though in reality, she was just trying to protect her relationship with Spencer from being tarnished by gossip or humiliation from the Dorsey family. Plus, the Haywood family wanted her to maintain that relationship diligently.

Back then, Brielle was obedient, believing that following the rules would lead to a good outcome. But everything changed when she exposed the sordid affair between Lillian and Spencer. That’s when she realized her mistake and started deliberately getting involved with Max.

"Kenzo, just cut to the chase. Honestly, our past doesn’t interest me much, cruel as it may sound. But since you've chosen to side with your backers, you should've known this day would come," she said, her voice indifferent.

Kenzo stayed silent, just watching her with a hint of sorrow in his eyes.

Rising to her feet, Brielle spoke, "If there's nothing else, I’ll be leaving."

As Kenzo set his teacup down, he glanced at the bodyguard entering the room and chuckled lightly.

"You really have the Lynch family vibe now."

"Thanks for the compliment, Kenzo."

The newcomer was one of Dustin’s men, and in this sealed space, Kenzo had no escape.

Dustin was the last to enter, fixing his gaze on Kenzo.

Kenzo raised an eyebrow, his smile fading slightly.

Both Brielle and Dustin thought they could capture him tonight, but they hadn’t anticipated Kenzo’s remarkable skill, leading them to a wall.

Lowering his height, Kenzo whispered in Brielle's ear, "Max once kept a woman locked up in a castle, where he was the only other person. I heard he was quite fond of her. Brielle, I always thought a person like Max could only truly care for one person, or maybe a certain type of person. Do you think his quick affection for you is because he saw someone else's shadow in you? By the way, I heard that woman had a child but then left him."

Seeing her expression change, Kenzo felt a pang of sadness. He didn’t want to do this; he was like a lowly worm, consumed by jealousy when he realized she had no mercy for him.

In front of her, all his emotional control crumbled. Happy to see her in pain, he was a prisoner of love.

"Twenty years ago, at the orphanage, I visited you. It was winter, and you had just returned home with my father after selling gloves. You were so small. I was hiding in the bushes nearby. I thought you had left, but you came back with a stick of candied apples. Perhaps because I had fallen several times on my way there, looking quite disheveled, you mistook me for a beggar and kindly offered me the candied apples."
