Everett swung the door open and stopped dead in his tracks. Right there on the couch was Mason, making out with Tiffanie. She was perched on his lap, their lips practically glued together.
Everett felt like he'd walked into a nightmare. Was he seeing things? But no, it was definitely Mason, and that shameless girl was none other than Victoria's daughter.
Mason's eyes darted to the door, remembering too late that he'd given Everett a key. His face turned crimson as he hurriedly pulled away from Tiffanie, standing up and dragging her with him.
"Everett, this is my girlfriend, Tiffanie," he stammered.
Tiffanie clung to Mason's arm, flashing a sweet, almost innocent smile. "Hi, Everett."
The room went silent, the air thick and heavy. It felt like something was about to blow.
Everett clutched the bouquet of white flowers he'd brought, intending to visit the room where his first love had lived, to honor her memory. But here was Victoria's daughter, shamelessly seducing his son in the same space.
Rage boiled over inside Everett. He glared at Tiffanie, recognizing the spiteful glint in her eyes. She had done this on purpose, no doubt about it. Maybe she even relished the idea that the spirit of his lost love might be trapped here, forced to watch her son with the daughter of her enemy.
"Everett, what's the matter? You don't seem pleased to see me," Tiffanie taunted, just as Everett hurled the flowers at her, hitting her square in the face.
The pain was sharp, like her heart was splitting in two. The flowers scattered around her, petals fluttering to the ground, leaving her standing in a mess, looking broken but still defiant. She bent down, calmly picking up the ruined bouquet.
"Interesting way to say hello, Everett," she said, her tone mocking.
Everett grabbed Mason, jabbing a finger dangerously close to Tiffanie's face. "This girl is just like Victoria, knows exactly how to lure men. She's had more boyfriends than you can count. Aren't you disgusted being with her?! She knew who you were all along! She got close to you just to get back at me! No one in the Dorsey family is any good!"
Mason's head buzzed, unable to process what he was hearing. Tiffanie, Victoria's daughter? The same girl from those old photos, the one who had indirectly caused his mother's illness?
He remembered their first meeting, her relentless pursuit, and his eyes filled with tears.
Tiffanie didn't say a word in her defense. Instead, she clapped slowly, sarcastically. "Father and son, finally reunited. Congratulations, Mason. You've finally found your dad."
Even now, her face held that infuriating smile. Mason's chest tightened in pain, almost making him gasp for air.
