Before hopping on the plane, King made sure to call everyone and fill them in on how Brielle was doing.
After they landed, the trio headed straight to King's newly bought estate. It was huge, perfect for Noir to run around and cause a ruckus. Things were different here compared to abroad. If Noir wandered off, he might get shot in no time.
As Brielle stepped into the grand foyer, she couldn't help but admire the place, but she still asked, "Why aren't we staying at Premier Palace?"
King stiffened, momentarily forgetting about Premier Palace. Why did Brielle remember it, anyway? He stared at her, puzzled, but she averted her gaze, her lips pressing into a thin line.
"Premier Palace is your place. The whole Dorsey family knows about it. Spencer mentioned it. You don't want me there, do you? Afraid the Dorsey family will find out."
King was caught off guard by her insight. Was she always this perceptive? Why hadn't he noticed before? He recalled what Max had told him: Brielle felt insecure. Even a slight shift in his attention could unsettle her. She wasn't the CEO of Stellar Stage Entertainment, or the head of some unicorn startup, or the woman who could later stand toe-to-toe with Max. She was just Brielle, not yet twenty, fragile like she could break with a gentle touch.
"Premier Palace is under renovation, won't be done anytime soon."
Brielle sighed in relief, a small smile playing on her lips, but her expression quickly turned serious again. "What if the Dorsey family finds out?"
Her voice wavered, and her palms were sweaty. She was just a fringe figure in the Dorsey family, never having set foot in their ancestral home. Despite being Spencer's fiancée, she hadn't attended a single family gathering. Yet, she had snagged the family's most sought-after man, the one who had turned heads at Beaconsfield College, and kept him close. The Dorsey family would likely go all out to take her down. Michael would surely think she seduced Max and ruined him. If they forced them apart, would Max still look at her with those intense eyes?
Brielle felt a wave of uncertainty and anxiety. Without waiting for King's answer, she stood up and said, "Maybe I should just go back to the Haywood family."
