Master of his heart (Max and Brielle) novel Chapter 1274

Sure enough, as soon as Emma's fans caught wind of the accusation, they couldn't sit still.

"That bracelet must've been snatched by Peyton. Aren't they broke? How could they even think of buying designer stuff?"

"Emma is such a show-off. Her mom can't even afford a cab ride, yet she splurges on brand names just to be a streamer? I don't get how someone can live like that, just leeching off her folks."

"Leona's too nice. If it were me, I'd have called the cops on that mother-daughter duo in a heartbeat. With the current gold prices, that bracelet is worth enough to press charges."

Leona saw the comment and smiled slyly.

"Aww, I was just musing. Maybe they didn't take the bracelet after all. Let's not jump to conclusions about good people. Also, let's keep the chat focused on us, okay? How about I sing another song for you guys?"

The comments kept praising her for being kind-hearted and understanding.

Leona's eyes sparkled with amusement. With her around, Emma wouldn't stand a chance at making a comeback.

Emma had hoped tonight would be the start of something great. Her follower count had just hit 3000, and she was beaming, ready to stream all night to keep the momentum going.

But soon enough, the comments took a nasty turn, with people calling her a thief and vain.

Emma frowned, completely baffled by the sudden hostility.

Her follower count had just started climbing, and the new audience was still pretty fickle. Suddenly, there was an influx of haters, leaving everyone else puzzled until someone brought up Leona's lost bracelet.

Emma saw the comments and her face turned pale.

"We didn't take her bracelet, and spreading rumors like this could get you in trouble with the police."

But Emma had clearly underestimated Leona. Leona hadn't outright accused Peyton; she had just planted a seed of doubt.

And it was Emma and Peyton who had to bear the brunt of that doubt.

Emma watched helplessly as the chat filled with hateful messages, even cursing her mom.

Emma couldn't focus on her stream any longer and helped her mom sit on the bed, out of the camera's view.

"Emma, I think I'm about to pass out. You look all blurry to me. Maybe my body's giving up. How's your stream going?"

Peyton was disoriented, teetering on the edge of consciousness.

Seeing her like this, Emma grabbed her phone to call an ambulance, but Peyton stopped her.

"No, don't waste the money. I pawned some jewelry today just to buy these things for you. We don't have much left, and we still need to get back to town. Let's save what we can."

After saying that, Peyton turned even paler, feeling nauseous.

Emma couldn't care less about the money at this point and dialed for an ambulance.

Little did she know, Peyton's words had been picked up by the microphone, especially the part about pawning jewelry, heard loud and clear by thousands of viewers.
