He was head over heels for her, never even glancing in another woman's direction. If Brielle needed love and attention, he was ready to give her everything she had been missing, unreservedly. But how could he make her feel cared for if she was constantly on an emotional rollercoaster, filled with insecurities?
Brielle, at this point, was fragile, littered with scars. King finally understood what Max had once said—Brielle was deeply insecure. Especially when it came to love, she was a coward. Even after she had built a strong facade in her professional life, with Max, she always prepared herself for the possibility of being left alone. Deep down, she believed that no one, especially not someone like Max, would want to spend a lifetime with her.
When King returned to the estate, he found Brielle playing in the garden with Isaac, with Noir sprawled before them, occasionally rolling around in delight. Brielle was petting Noir's head, a smile playing on her lips, "This fur is so shiny." Isaac was busy assembling a set of toys Brielle had bought for him, ranging in size. At the moment, he was focused on a miniature potted plant.
Catching King approaching out of the corner of her eye, Brielle looked up and joined him on the ground, her tone casual. "Brielle." "Hmm?" Turning to face him, she listened as he earnestly suggested, "Let's move to Premier Palace."
A flash of surprise crossed Brielle's eyes, quickly followed by confusion, "I thought Premier Palace was sold? How did you manage to buy it back?" King had lied before, and now, he had no choice but to continue. He always felt that perhaps the Dorsey family, or not bringing her to Premier Palace sooner, were her insecurities. He could give her everything she needed, without holding back.
"Didn't you say your family got in touch? They helped us buy it back, saying it was..." He trailed off, feeling a bit embarrassed, avoiding her gaze. "As our wedding home." His voice was so soft that Brielle had to lean in closer to hear. "King, what did you say?" Clearing his throat, King pulled her to her feet, "It's nothing. You wanted to move in, right?"
