Master of his heart (Max and Brielle) novel Chapter 1320

Max always seemed to have this sixth sense about what Brielle wanted, like he could read her mind. Hearing him nail it so perfectly left King feeling a bit lost, like he was playing catch-up in the emotional department.

“King?” Brielle’s voice cut through his thoughts. She looked up at him, confused by his sudden silence.

King snapped back to reality and pulled her into a tight hug. “I promise you, but you’ve got to trust my plan, okay? No jumping the gun.”

Brielle’s eyes lit up with joy, and she hugged him back. “Honestly, as long as you’re by my side, I’m happy. If this ever pulls you away from me, I’ll regret it.”

Her words mirrored Max’s sentiment perfectly. All King needed to do was give her what she needed, and together, they could tackle anything. The road ahead might be tough, but they’d face it together, and that’s what mattered.

King felt a lump in his throat and held her even tighter, not saying a word. In that moment, it was like their hearts were perfectly in sync, warming each other with a bittersweet comfort.

“Brielle…”

Over the next three days, King didn’t push her too hard. Instead, he taught her some basic self-defense moves. Brielle, who’d trained in karate before, picked it up quickly. Her skills were sharp, thanks to her previous lessons with King on handling firearms.

Still, King couldn’t shake the protective instinct. He implanted a high-tech tracking chip in her arm, undetectable by enemy scanners. Ricardo got a similar chip.

Ricardo was cleaning his gun, glancing at the clock on the wall. He never thought he’d be teaming up with Brielle.

At exactly seven, the roar of a helicopter filled the air. Brielle and Ricardo exchanged a look. Ricardo, more relaxed now, pulled her close and said, “Brielle, let’s make sure we both get back in one piece.”
