Brielle watched as Annie showed up out of nowhere in the middle of the night, then turned her gaze forward and floored the gas pedal. The move was so sudden that, if Annie hadn’t been so quick on her feet, she would’ve been sent flying by the car.

Annie stood her ground, brow furrowed in confusion. What was Brielle up to?

Annie hadn’t noticed Ricardo quietly sitting in the backseat. When he wanted to stay hidden, he had a knack for becoming nearly invisible. Brielle glanced at Ricardo through the rearview mirror. He still had that clean-cut look, and he gave her a reassuring smile before asking, “What’s the matter, Mr. Haywood?”

Brielle’s heart was pounding. She was almost sure that Annie was the woman Murray had loved. That day, when she shot at Murray, Annie had coldly twisted the knife, becoming Murray’s heartache.
