She got up, feeling an empty pit in her stomach. Aiden had gone out to get her some soup, while Addison asked if she needed any fruit.
"You're looking pretty pale," Addison noted.
Brielle wasn't sure how bad she looked but did crave some fruit. Once Addison and Aiden left, she tried to get out of bed and stretch her legs. Just then, the door swung open, and a middle-aged couple barged in.
Seeing only Brielle, a frail young woman, they immediately turned hostile.
"This was our room last month. You need to leave; my husband hurt his leg and needs immediate care," the woman demanded as if it were her birthright. Without waiting, she grabbed Brielle's wrist to push her out.
The supposed injured husband, looking perfectly healthy, didn’t intervene. He even seemed annoyed by his wife's slow pace.
Brielle yanked her arm free, staring back at the woman’s arrogant gaze.
"You better not mess with us. This room is reserved for us. You’re here because of a staff error. Now get out," the woman insisted.
Too drained to argue, Brielle snapped, "Get lost."
The woman, enraged, yelled for the attending doctor.
Recognizing the couple, the doctor appeared uneasy. "Ms. Brielle, let's find you another room," he suggested.
The woman smirked, pulling off Brielle's bedsheets. "Change these sheets immediately. My husband's injury is critical," she ordered.
As staff moved to comply, Brielle sat back down firmly. "We’ve paid for this room, and I’m not moving," she declared.
The doctor whispered to her, "Ms. Brielle, they’re connected to Mark, who knows all the local officials. No one can touch them. If you don’t want trouble, it’s best to move."
The doctor clearly didn’t want any more issues.
The woman had already swept Addison and Aiden's items from the table to the floor, confident in her victory.
Brielle took a deep breath and called the police.
