Master of his heart (Max and Brielle) novel Chapter 989

"Cousin? What brings you to Beaconsfield? I thought you said—"

Ramey cut himself off, glancing at Brielle, and fell silent.

Brielle sensed they had something private to discuss, so she retreated to her bedroom.

Recently, she’d been feeling weak and constantly tired. She had no idea why. But to anyone else, it was obvious—she’d been through a lot and lost a child; her body just couldn’t handle it all.

In Brielle's world, Max was on a business trip. When she started hearing things that weren't there, she almost forgot the baby altogether, which only added to her confusion about her health.

Restless, she tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep. Minutes later, her phone rang. She reached for it, but the screen was dark.

“Are you asleep? Did you get out of the casino?”

Max’s voice brought her immediate relief.

“Yeah, I’m out. I ran into someone who looked like King, but I doubt he’d let me see his real face so easily.”

“Stay cautious around him.”

“I will. I’ll wait for you to come back.”

“Good girl.”

After hanging up, Brielle, who had been wide awake, drifted off to sleep. It was her subconscious protecting her, with the imagined Max advising her to be wary of Myles.

Downstairs, Ramey pulled Myles into the garden, away from prying eyes and cameras, and whispered urgently.

“Cousin, why didn’t you tell me you were coming? I know Brielle was your patient. After deep hypnosis, you’re not supposed to see her. What are you doing here?”

Though Ramey called Myles 'cousin,' they barely knew each other, having met more at conferences than family gatherings. Myles was always an enigma, renowned for his top-tier hypnosis skills, but his client list was a mystery to Ramey.

Myles glanced around the Premier Palace and smiled faintly.
