"What happened?" he demanded.

A Viper Crew scout came rushing up and gave a hurried report. "Inspector General, just now the Warden of the Island Watch—Brennan—launched a rebellion. The Governor's Keep responded with a full-scale firepower strike!"

Firepower saturation? A heavy look crossed Corey's face. "Does everyone know about this?"

The scout shook his head. "No. The Governor's Keep set a perimeter—no one is allowed within 60 miles. Those guys don't even have a clue what's going on."

Suspicion flickered in Corey's eyes. "If no one can get within 60 miles, then how the hell did you get this intel? And with such detail?"

Suddenly, the scout's expression lit up with excitement. "Because of Mr. Larden!"

Corey nodded slowly in understanding.

Everyone had heard about the uproar during the Life-and-Death Arena, when Matteo had been personally summoned by Olexar. That incident had caused quite a stir. The Governor's Keep likely hadn't interfered with the Viper Crew's movements because of that connection.

"Next time you're out gathering intel," Corey warned, "if it involves the Governor's Keep, don't assume we're exempt from the rules. They may let us in once for the sake of the Governor or Mr. Larden, but over time, that courtesy wears thin."

Seeing that Corey had misunderstood, the scout quickly clarified with a helpless expression. "Sir, I didn't mean they let me in because of Mr. Larden."

Corey's face darkened slightly. "You used Mr. Larden's name?"
