After finishing the meal, Matthew excused himself and stepped outside.

Earlier, he had caught sight of a Viper Crew scout. He'd already planned to visit the Viper Crew anyway, and now that he had some free time, it was the perfect moment. Matthew wanted to see firsthand whether Corey—the man he'd chosen—truly had what it took.

"Inspector General Corey Chapman, reporting to Mr. Larden!"

The moment he stepped out of the Governor's Keep, a loud voice rang out. Matthew turned his head and saw Corey standing at attention not far away.

"What are you doing here?" Matthew asked softly, surprised.

He had specifically told the scout he would visit the Viper Crew himself. There was no need for Corey to come greet him in person.

"I heard you had returned, Mr. Larden, and I was overwhelmed with excitement. I couldn't help myself, so I came. I hope you're not angry," Corey said earnestly.

Matthew looked at him, a faint smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "No need for all this. I don't care much for ceremony. You can relax a little."

Hearing this, some of the tension on Corey's face finally eased.

"Mr. Larden, these are the Viper Crew's development plans and policies from the past little while. I figured you'd want to see them, so I took the liberty of bringing them with me."

Matthew took the documents from Corey's outstretched hand, his long fingers brushing the edge. His appreciation for Corey rose a few more notches. Of everyone in the West Montiria Islands, Corey was the one who aligned best with his ideals. The man was genuinely intelligent.

He flipped open the folder and skimmed over its contents. But then, his expression shifted slightly.

"This here… where did you come across it?" Matthew asked, tapping one particular line on the page.
